Question about Dymo ExecuLabel LM450 Thermal Label Printer
My 450 will only print horizontal lines that look like bar codes. They do not change as the text is changed. I cleaned it and put new batteries in it but still the same.

Poor Print Quality from Electronic Labelmaker Question I have an electronic labelmaker that is printing poorly. The print on the label is either very light, incomplete, or striped. How can I resolve this?
Answer Proceed with the solutions listed below if you have an electronic labelmaker. If you have a LabelWriter printer that is printing poorly, click here.
Replace the existing batteries with a new/fresh set of alkaline batteries. The print head requires a significant amount of battery power to ensure proper printing on the label. Light print on the label may be an indication that the batteries need to be replaced.
Replace the existing tape cassette with a new tape cassette. Light printing may be an indication of bad label stock.
Using the special brush supplied with your labelmaker (located on the inside cover of the cassette compartment) or a cotton swab with a soft solvent (e.g. rubbing alcohol), carefully clean the transporter roller and print head. Dust, dirt, or glue may accumulate on the rubber transport roller or print head inside the cassette compartment and adversely affect print quality.
If the solutions listed above do not resolve the problem, please contact DYMO Technical Support to obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) Number.

It doesn't use ink so that's not the problem. more than likely it's one of 2 things. 1. you created a custom label layout and the text is just over the edge of it's printable area. Therefore, only hal of it prints. #2 Your using the wrong size label template on the software. make sure that the size you have loaded in your label printer matches the template shown size for size, inch for inch. The printer doesn't know (or care) what label you have showing on your software. It only knows what's loaded in your printer. So for example, if you have a shipping label on the software and put text to the bottom og it, it won;t print if you have an address label laoded in the printer.

You probably didn't damage it, it sounds like you may have knocked loose the thermal printing portion (which is the most important part). There is no easy way for you to repair this but Dymo will usually do it for free under warranty. Their phone number is:

Font settings can be adjusted for individual label templates and for the DLS application. Please note, changing the font settings for the DLS application will only affect the creation of new label templates. It does not change the font settings of any previously created and saved label templates.
