I checked on these sites. Thanks for the further information. They don't seem to relate to my Apple G4 PowerBook, but at least they've given me some idea about inverters.

I really appreciate all the comments from people on this site. Sorry to be slow in resonding, but time in Australia is opposite from US. Anyway, I have much more knowledge than I had when I posted the problem. I'm going to have a friend's friend who has an Apple service look it over and give me an estimate on fixing the screen. He's also got some possible replacement panels if it needs one.

    thanks again.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Ok so this morning I turned my laptop on and the screen was all pixilated and weird. I couldn't use my mouse and so I pressed the off button. When I later tried to turn my laptop on a black screen...

If you hear the computer booting up and sound, then yes, there may be a problem with the lcd. Unless you are VERY comfortable working with repairing computers I wouldn't suggest attempting a repair yourself.

Samsung impression lcd needs replacement

You have 2 options of course; Have it repaired by a professional shop (it's cheaper than you think), or try it yourself and save a few bucks.

Here's a link to the first option:

Here's a link to a major supplier for option #2:

Cracked screen. Where can I order a new screen replacement?

The screen is the most expensive part of the TV, it will be more than what your TV is worth, see to see how much parts are selling for.

Repair is not an option on a cracked LCD screen. It is easier and cheaper to just buy another Television.

Lines on montitor

Im assuming what you mean is coloured or permenantly black lines either down or across your LCD. If this is the case there are no loose connections that can be put right. The screen will certainly need to be replaced. Ive seen it many times. Sorry to be the purveyor of bad news. The problem comes from the LCD Itself.

Power on Green but no display (blank screen)

In the LCD1830 the inverter for the backlight always burns out. They are fairly easy to replace when you remove the back to get inside. A new one is available from MoniServ for $69.99.
