Remove the upper back and clean the three projector lenses with Windex and soft paper towel. You have dust build up. If there are smokers in the house then also windex the back side of the screen to get the nicotine film off. This cured my picture. I had lost fine detail and the picture looked like there was a white haze over it.

Our Mitsubishi WD 52525 goes to blue screen and shuts off.

It sounds like you TV is overheating and the video is suffering and the lamp is overheating as well. Also, if your TV is over 2-3 years old, the mirrors (behind and below the big front screen) desperately need to be cleaned. Clean all filters and fans as well. (Look on side and behind the unit). Is the TV in a "hot" environment and/or dirty environment? DLP TV's are NOT sealed units. They need to be cleaned every few years to work well to have a good, clear, bright picture.

We just purchased a 55'' Phillips projection tv that is 7yrs old and the picture is horrible. It worked fine at their house. However it's like there is a bright light and the colors are horrible. We tried...

Sounds like the TV either failed or was thrown out of alignment during the trip to your place.

See if there is a reset button on the remote, or if there is a reset procedure for the television.

I hope you didn't pay too much for a 7 year old TV. Good luck.

Clearer HDTV picture?

quite possible that the coolant is getting contaminated as thats a normal occurance with phillips after a few years. If the color seems dim and not focusing properly its almost certain that the CRT coolant will need changing

Phillips magnavox 55" projection

The coolant needs to be changed in the CRTs ( picture tubes) this is a very common problem with all phillips and magnavox rear projections. Changing the coolant will restore the color and brightness and stop the halo effect. You can get the phillips CRT coolant kit at the following link and it includes all the coolant and the step by step instruction CD with pictures. Its actually a fairly easy job. Heres the link its listed under the repair Kit category.

I currently have a phillips 28pw9308, its just 3 years old, but i have a green screen with green lines across it, i hear the programmes clearly but no picture can u help please?

sounds like you have a shorted green gun in the CRT. It may also be the green drive transistor. Check the trans first, and if the trans is good you will need a new CRT

Picture is dim and blurry

The screen probably needs to be degaussed, which will require either a degausser or a technician. Try turning the television off, and then unplugging it from the wall outlet. Then replug after 30 seconds and turn it back on. Also, try plugging any cables from a cable or satellite box into another set of in-ports on the back. If the problem persists, the screen needs to be degaussed.

@ 6 years old I'd be willing to bet that it's time to replace the lamp. They lose brightness over time so that could be what the problem is.
