Take the back off put washing machine on spin cycle making sure not to touch anything so you don't get shocked and look at the motor maybe the belt is loose or broken if it is loose just tighten via the spring adjustment or if is old washing machine belt may have streched and needs replaceing if motor don't move maybe needs rewinding and is cheaper to buy new washer.

How to replace belt on Creda T620 CW Tumble Dryer

Remove the back panel quite a few screws, once of the belt can be seen, mind your fingers (use hook on metal coat hanger or the like) and roll the drum slowly with the hook under the belt directing it off the drum, refit is much the same as removal although special care should be taken not to nip the belt, fit to small pulley first on motor then turn drum slowly gradually rolling onto the drum mind the fingers and obviously make sure machine is off.

When spinning at higher speeds, there was a sound that could only be the drum hitting or catching something. The drum has now dropped about an inch. I took it all apart yesterday & could see nothing...

It's hard to give much detail without a model number, but it sounds like you are working on a front load washer.
If the tub of a front load washer has dropped down and is rubbing on the outer tube as it spins around then I would suspect the rear drum bearings are bad.
You can remove the back access panel from your washer and see if there is a trail of grease and water residue running down from the center tub bearing.

I have an epic front loader by may tag... When it is on spin it soundS like there are a bunch of pieces flinging around inside making a horrible racket. It never used to do this. I have checked and there...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France @ 21:20 Mon evening.

As your husband is a technician I would persuade him to have a look- it's the cheapest answer!

REMOVE POWER FIRST!!!
I just have lots of years experience of taking things apart and (hopefully) fixing them! It sounds as if something has got through between the drum and its container. It should be possible to actually listen with head almost inside the drum whilst at the same time rocking the drum. If there is something there it should make a noise at the bottom.
Question- have you had a look in the lint tray/filter to see if there is any sign of naughties getting into the drum? That's also worth a try.
Lastly I am assuming that the washer is absolutely stable- that all 4 feet are FIRMLY on the floor and the machine is not moving even the slightest(?).
Like my wife, you are lucky to have a (cheap) technician ;-0)
Good luck,
John C

Indesit WIDL1265 - Noisy on Spin

Hello, this is a symptom of drum bearing wear, and what you need do is to check the wear to see if the inner drum moves up and down relative to the fixed outer drum. It should only moves a minutes amount. If it moves more than a millimeter or two, that means it is probably worn bearings and you will need to replace it.
Thanks

Sounds like something is knocking around in the back of the washer. On the spin cycle, the noise is very loud anyway, but it sounds like there is something banging around inside. The drum moves around...

ok open the door
make sure the thing is empty
try to move the inner tub
if you can shke it side to side anything but around
you have a broken spinner support

Graco swing has very limited range of motion. It still "works", but something inside is damaged or fell off. I have taken it apart to see the parts in motion, and it all looks like it is doing...

We bought a used swing (lovein hug). It was in super condition but we noticed the same thing where it would hardly swing. My husband, who seems to analyze things that don't work, took it apart to see why so much slop was in there. He couldn't find anything obvious why it was doing that, so he took a piece of small cardboard (off an oatmeal box) and wrapped it around to make it fit on both sides and wrapped it with black electrical tape and stuck it back in. It's hardly noticable. We also changed the legs around to make sure the legs make the swing lay back.

Hope this helps!

IF YOUR DRUM HAS CHANGED POSITION, IT MOST LIKELY HAS SOMETHING BROKEN INSIDE. SOME DRYERS HAVE A SINGLE SUPPORT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE REAR OF THE DRUM. YOU WOULD SEE THREE OR FOUR SCREWS IN THE INSIDE CENTER OF THE BACK OF THE DRUM. IF THAT BREAKS, IT WILL CAUSE THE DRUM TO TIP DOWNWARD IN THE BACK.

SOME DRYER DRUMS ARE SUPPORTED WITH A SUPPORT IN THE FRONT THAT THE FRONT OF THE DRUM HANGS ON.
THE DRYER WOULD HAVE TO BE TAKEN APART TO VERIFY WHAT HAS BROKEN AND NEEDS REPLACED.
