SOURCE: can't print from bottom drawer, will only print from tray,

There are at least three possible solutions. The first two are simple the third is fairly complicated unlr=ess you can read a hex dump of a print file. 1) Use the front panel "Paper Menu" to select the tray. 2) Check the driver settings to make sure the driver is set to "Auto" or the correct tray. 3) Set the driver to "Print to File". When prompted to name the print file, name it "tray_fail". If you do not know how to read this file, send it to me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to take a look at it and see I I can correct the problem. Don

SOURCE: My Lexmark Optra S 1855 has a

Hi,

First thing to do is get the top off which can be easier said than done. The printer has four screws holding the top. After that remove the control panel by undoing the four screws holding it in place. This isn't strictly necessary but it makes life easier. Now move the print head to the left. To do this you have to lower a locking bar that is located at the base of the head. The head can be quite hard to move but it does slide left. Under the print heads you will find two pads of hard foam. These collect the ink when you perform a normal head clean and keep the print head moist. Soak these with water . Pool water on them and let it run through (it goes through to a large pad at the bottom of the machine by the way). Fold some tissue and lay it on the base when the heads pass over. Push the head back and forth over the tissue to clean the actual head. The tissue will come out covered in ink.Now for the tricky part get an old printer cartridge and remove the label on top that says "do not remove". Under the label you will find a couple of holes. Widen them / open them with a drill bit about 3 mm is good. Fill the cartridge with water and put it in the printer. Push the heads back over to the right as far as they will go. This will cause the sponges to come right up against the heads. Leave the set up over night. In the morning test the printer. Run a couple of head cleans with the cleaning cartridge in. Your problem is solved now

Optra S 1855: Error "202 paper jam open rear door" appears constantly as soon as I turn on the printer, and I can't do anything. However, there is no paper in the printer!

Get the user manual/support/information for your Optra S1855 here:

http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=manualsguides&linkSelected=node2%5Esubnode1&channel=manualsguideschannels&locale=EN&userlocale=EN_US

Also, sometimes if you blow out a printer with a spray can of air or small air compressor it could remove a little piece of paper/debris that is stuck to the jam sensor. Good luck.

I keep getting a paper jam error with my Optra S 1855 printer, but there is no paper jam. This error interchanges with a message asking me to Change the paer in tray 1 to letter size, but it is already...

Open the tray and make sure the green paper lever is set to letter mark, both at the bottom of the paper and the one on the side. And yes, if you haven't used it for 3 years, you should clean the dust that settled inside your printer over time.
