I have to hold down the 'wired' open/ close button for the door to close, but when it gets to the 'closed' position, doors opens again. I checked sensors (no problem) and adjusted close/ open height & force settings. No change.

I have the same problem too. The door opens fine but only closes if I hold the button doen until its completely closed . There is a clock ticking sound that I seems very strange too.
I'll check the sensors but I don't know if that solution makes sense....

Sensors don't light up anymore. changed them to resolve the problem. problem came back after 6 months. Now what do i do, change them again? or is there something else wrong that i don't know about.

I changed the gear in my unit. Now, I can't get the chain to move all the way closed or open. I adjust the level and the force but it just moves a little and the goes back the other direction. If I keep pushing the botton until it closes or opens that is the only way to get it up or down. What is the solution.

You need to hook those wires back up and then check the door sensors very closely. If the light in one of the door sensors is dim or flashing it will cause your problem.

Door goes down and when it stops at botton, it turns and goes back up ??? Need adjusting ..How can I adjust???

Adjust the position of the door by using the black and purple buttons. Black moves the door UP (open) and purple moves the door DOWN (close)
Setting the up position: 1. Press and hold the black button until the LED starts flashing slowly, then release. 2. Push and hold the black button until the door reaches the desired UP (open) position 3. Push the door control or programmed remote control. This sets the Up (open) position and begins closing the door. 4. Immediately when the door begins to close press and release the black or purple button. This will stop the door Setting the Down position: 5. Push and hold the purple button until the door reaches the desired DOWN (Closed) position. 6. Once the door is closed, If there appears to be too much pressure on the door, you may toggle the door back and forth using the black and purple buttons to reach the desired closed position. 7. Push the door control or programmed remote control. This sets the Down (closed) limit and the door should open.

Okay, I'm having an issue with my Sears Craftsman garage door opener. Not exactly sure of the model number, but can dig it up if that's necessary. Symptoms: 1) Door opens fine from either wall button or...

It sounds like you have a problem with your wall button. I would remove the button from the wall and then disconnect the 2 wires on the back. Remember where they go as they are color coded. You can then momentarily touch the two wires together to check the operation. There isn't enough voltage there to bother you.

One thing to remember. If when the door reverses the main light flashes 10 times it is a door sensor problem and nothing else.

My craftsman 1/2 hp garage door starts to close and then opens up

I had a simular issue, except mine was that the previous owner decided to mess with all the settings and mounts and screwed everything up.

The problem isn't your force sensors its your downwards stopping sensor on the opposite side of the opener. For me I had to take the entire panel off and replace the sensor back in its holder, but try adjusting that sensor setting (clockwise goes down, counterclockwise goes up).

If that doesn't work then i dunno:)

Also set both force settings in between 0-1, for some reason with mine if i set it higher it would set them off....

Garage Door Wont Close Craftsman 1/2 HP (1998)

What it is is the electric beams at the door are getting blinded buy the sun or out of line. They are the two black boxes on both sides of the door about a foot from the ground. Put a piece of card board in front of them not blocking the beam dut to block the sun. All that they are is safety beams for kids so they do not get hurt. If you have to move them to the top where the sun will not hit them. Sorry to say though you can not remove them all the way. Also make sure the lite on them is not blinking if so they are out of line.

Automatic garage door

Hello,

There should be 2 sensors on the bottom of your door on the inside, 1 on the right side and 1 on the left side.
These sensors serve 1 purpose to send a beam or reflection to each other.
If something is blocking this reflection or is in front of the sensor the door will always come back up.
It is a safety feature so nothing or no one gets hurt when the door is closing!

sounds like the safety door sensors are at fault, also did you reprogram the remotes by pressing the smart button on the logic board, when the safety sensors are bad the door will reverse to open state.you can pully the rip cord to manualy close the door untill you solve the problem.
