Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hello, well, frankly, I think you're wasting your time. Maybe your best option would be to remove your old drive and connect it to a computer which has a more modern operating system; pref. XP and then your usb stick would be recognized and you can drag all of your files off that way. Windows 98 SE is a lot less user-friendly as there's no plug and play support and there'll be no driver support out there for usb memory sticks unless it's a really old one. Regards, nicam49

If the Windows 98 computer does not have a USB port and you cannot copy the photos onto a floppy disk or burn the photos to a CD then the only option is the following.
Remove the hard disk and connect it to a USB hard drive adapter and then plug this into a USB port of a working computer. This computer will see this as an external storage device, you can then open the various folders and copy your photos to this computer or to a USB flash drive.

Computer with windows 98 does not have a driver

Windows 98 does requires an USB driver for any/all USB devices to work. The flash memory stick should have a driver in CD otherwise you need to download a Windows 98 driver from Toshibe WEB site. Acer may also have USB driver on their support download WEB site.

How to download files onto USB flash memory

Just plug the memory stick into your USB port on the computer. Windows has the drivers already installed. A taskbar icon will appeer us a connected USB device, exacly as a digital camera would. You will find the stick in My Computer as a removalble drive. Click on the right side mouse button over the flash drive icon and click properties to see the stick memory size, ect.... Use it as you would any other removable dirve, ie: 3.5" floppy disk, CD Read/Write. I would go to the TOOLS button for the drive and click FORMAT for you first use of the stick to test its memory. After that you can just copy, save, drag and drop files like always....

Computer won't read memory stick

SCMG - You won't be inserting it into your modem. But if the card fits snuggly and it seems to fit right, then you're probably where you need to be.

For all of you - it may be easier to connect the camera directly to the computer to download the pictures. All cameras come with the appropriate cable to connect the camera to a USB port. All you need to do is make the connection and then put the camera into "review" mode to view the pictures and Windows should automatically see the camera and ask if you want to download the pictures off of it.

Windows 98 USB Memory Stick driver

Most memory sticks require you to download a separate driver for use on Windows 98 machines. All driver downloads are free, and you can find a camplatible driver on the website of the manufacturer of your memory stick. For example if your memory stick is a Sandisk, you would go to the sandisk website, click on support, drivers and downloads, select your exact product and select the correct driver from the list provided.

On some memory sticks there simply aren't drivers available for windows 98. Lets hope this isn't the case. If you want me to look for the driver and provide a link, give me the manufacturer and model number of your memory stick and I will be glad to help.

Good Luck!
