Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook
The scroll on the mouse pad has stopped working. when i go into the control pannel, and then mouse properties it says everything is fine. untill i try and look at the divice settings. this will then crash the mouse properties window and i have to close the screen (i have tried waitin for about 15 mins and still no response) i have also tried clicking the Synaptics Poting Device in the toolbar at the bottem left of the screen but i get no response at all from this when right or left clicking.
I figured it out! The same exact thing happens to me. To fix the problem: When you exit full screen mode, click your mouse on your internet page to make sure you are actively on that page, then hit the space bar twice. I have been using this method for a week now, and it solves the problem every time!! I hope this helps you!

I have the same laptop and I have noticed that it does not work in certain applications or on certain webpages. I have also found that the scroll only works when the mouse pointer is over the part of the page that would scrool (over the text your typing in word, or over the actual webpage in IE7).
However, since you have having problems with Windows crashing when trying to check the settings, and with getting no response from the task bar, you may want to consider defragmenting your hard drive, running some type of Spyware remover (Ad aware by lavasoft is a good one) or SpyBot search and destroy. They are both free as well, and a simple search on download.com should find them. If the problems persist, it may be time to reinstall Windows. Just make sure you back up anything you will want off the computer to CD or DVD first because you will loose everything.
