- thanks for asking...sorta resolved...we now have wireless internet thanks to your link...however.my question now is------do we have to have one of the laptops directly connected to the modem for the wireless circuit to work?" My daughter's laptop works via wireless...but when I unhook the cable to my laptop...loose the internet.....these are the only 2 comps we have in the house...

- I understand...one way or another..I have to have at least one computer connected directly to the router...Is that correct?
It's clear that the router has lost its connection through the modem since there are no computers that can get online through it. Either the router lost the right settings or the modem is not online. have you tried to bypass the router and try the internet through the modem and check the internet connection? What is the brand or the model of the your modem from verizon?

- Is your problem already resolved?

- since you now have a router that is where you will connect the computer, wired or wireless. If you will wire the computer on your network it should be wired directly to the router.

- Yes, if that computer does not have a wireless adapter or if will just go wired on the network then it should be wired directly to the router. But if all of your computers are wireless then none of them should be wired to the router.

I was asked to test a NVF200R modem at our Maui resort condo. Although advertised as plug-and-play, it was obvious from the beginning that it was not. It quit feeding an internet signal every time the phone was plugged in. Tech Support suggested some fixes in the phone room. I hooked up again, feeding the internet signal into my Belkin router. The entire Oceanic broadband cable system crashed! And I am being blamed! Seems that ALL extension phones must be plugged into your modem using splitters, no other telephone plugs in the condo can be used, and DHCP has to be disabled on my router. Sorry for venting, but I ask you, How can you advertise your modem as plug-and-play. Could you live with these restrictions in a two bedroom condo? I think you need to go back to the engineering department and develop a foolproof system! I am done with the test!
