I have a Toshiba Satellite L465 S4056. My fan runs on high constantly, but my computer isn't hot. Is there anything I can do to make it not run on high?

Hi, if the airways are clean and the laptop does not get hot it is possible that your computer needs bios updates... first go into the bios to see what version you have then go to toshiba web site and search your model support and download section, if there is a bios update see if the version is newer than what's on your computer, if it is then sure follow the instruction to update.... I hope that helps.

Toshiba satellite a100-153 running hot

Something is very wrong here. Does this occur when running on internal battery or only when plugged into the power adapter? At these temperatures the cooling fan should be running at full speed constantly until the temperatures fall to about 50 centigrade or lower. (dependant upon loading and CPU power consumption.) The laptop should automatically power down at the temperatures you are quoting!

The fan on my satellite L645D-S4050 runs constantly and drains the battery very quickly. Battery life is about an hour as opposed to the advertised 4 hours. I have seen mention of installing and...

First Visit http://support.toshiba.com up top Click "Download" and search out your Toshiba Model Laptop. You could try a BIOS upgrade for it, it won't hurt anything, but I seriously doubt your fan is draining the battery that fast, even if it does run all the time. It's possible there is dust in there causing the fan to run all the time, or your power management settings need adjusting. Although the BIOS upgrade, if applicable, may help the fan, and should, frankly, be run anyway if available. I'd be seeking another battery to try, or maybe just buy a new one. If you get 4 hours you're good to go, from my experience laptop batteries die and just need replacing.

My fan is running constantly computer seems

Yes, the fan should run continuously else the processor will get toasted. It get very hot without the fan even when the PC is not doing anything visibly.

Almost EXACTLY the same problem!

Is that program running in the background? On your : run : command type in msconfig. Then select the startup tab. deselect all. Then restart. That should make that error go away until you use that program.
