SOURCE: dewalt 708 sliding compound mitre saw

Probably a worn bearing. The only other thing that I have seen cause this is a bent spindle. This would usually occour if the machine has had an impact or if the blade has been suddenly jammed against a nail or something in the work that has caused it to jam and/or jump up.
A good indicator for bearing wear is to see how much play is in the blade in an up/down and side to side movement (unplug saw, safety first).
To check spindle, remove blade and run machine without the flanges etc on. Rest a scredriver gently on the shaft as it spins and see if you notice any (uniform) vibration.

SOURCE: I took the guard off the 10" Makita Mitre saw (spring loaded)!

Oh, you got it off. I bet you can put it back on again.
It's much easier if you take the blade off first. Then you'll be able to reach inside when you need to. Be patient, don't force it, and make sure when you get the spring reconnected properly that the guard moves freely out of the way when you chop, and returns when you raise the saw back up.
It's a bit of a trick, but I bet you can manage it..It's been awhile, but it seems to me there's a way to get the bolt started before you engage the tension on the spring...I'd have to have it in my hands to say exactly.
Here's a link to the exploded parts view at the Makita site, just in case. And it might help to have an extra pair of hands, or a piece of duct tape to hold the guard in place when you go to put the blade back on.

SOURCE: Compound mitre saw won't shut off unlss unplugged

Relace the switch.

I am presuming the lock button has not been inadvertently pressed ... Check that first.

The condition you deacrive is dangerous. Please fix it before you use it any more.

If you require additional assistance, let me know.

Otherwise, check RepairClonic.com for parts and technnical instruction from their crack crew.

Thanks for the opportunity to lend you a hand

SOURCE: how do you replace the blade on as Protech 8 1/4

there should be a spindle lock on the opposite side of the blade bolt,, make sure that when you replace the blade that you install the flanges correctly and if there a spacer that it is in place.

SOURCE: Mastercraft Maximum Compound Mitre Saw

Mastercraft's help line is 1-800-689-9928. However this saw is no longer in production and parts are available only until stock is depleted. It was supplied by an european company called WMH Tool Group that apparently doesn't supply CTC any longer.

How to change the blade on a fatmax mitre saw fe721

You have to loosen, NOT remove, two bolts on the blade cover so it rotates just enough to give you access to the spindle bolt holding the blade on. Check this web page for the user manual. You'll need the pictures on page 5 and the description on page 14 of this manual.

something is not quite right with that model number and doesn't follow normal Mastercraft format. I wonder if that is the Serial Number?

I have 1 10 In compound miter hexbolt will not loosen and lock will not hold. Is it possible that the bolt is a left thread?

most mitre saw bolts that hold blade are left hand thread. If you overtightened you might have to use extra force to loosen, on occasion I have had to use an impact wrench to loosen.
