When you need to delete the photos from the SD memory card, do not use your computer to do it. Use your camera to format the SD memory card.
To fix this problem, insert the SD memory card in your camera then go to the camera's Menu and format the SD memory card.

Your older camera can only work with 2GB or smaller standard SD cards. It is not capable of recognizing the newer format 4GB or higher SDHC cards. Fortunately, old format 2GB SD cards are relatively inexpensive these days, and may be purchased on Amazon if your local store no longer carries them.

How can i switch to a memory card?

Most digital cameras use either a secure digital (SD), compact flash (CF), memory stick, multi-media cards or XDcards.

Step 1: Power the camera off and determine what type of card your camera uses. You can check the owners manual, go to the manufacturer's site, or look on the camera to find out what card you use.

This is a picture of an "SD" card in a Digital Camera.

Step 2: Insert the memory card into the camera by locating the memory card slot on the bottom or side of the camera body. Open the memory card door by using an "Eject" button or sliding the panel to the side. Insert the memory card as advised by the icon on the inside of the door. Close the door and turn the camera on.

Step 3: Format the memory card for the camera. Many digital cameras will do this for you once the memory card in inserted and the camera is powered on. On some cameras you can do this manually:
Press your camera's "Menu" button, select "Tools," and find the "Format" feature. Select "Format" and press "OK" or "Set" to format the memory card. Press the shutter button to exit "Menu" mode.

To remove the memory card, open the camera as you were able to in Step 2. Then press the end of the card in and release. The card will slide out of the camera.

Some accessories may be required to transfer media to your computer. There may already be a slot in your computer for the card, if not, an SD to usb kit can be purchased online or from a local electronics vendor for a reasonable price.

HOW TO FORMAT SD CARD

Put the SD card into your digital camera and then turn the power on. Press the button on your camera to bring up your recently shot photographs.

Press the "Menu" or "OK" button on the camera to bring up the photograph options. Choose the option that says either "Setup" or "Options."

Scroll over to the "Format" option and hit "OK." Choose the option to set the file format to "FAT16."

other way to format is Put the SD card in card reader and follow these steps:-
Turn on your computer and put the SD card into the card reader slot on the front of your computer or the external card reader attached to a USB port. Wait to see if your operating system automatically opens a window prompting you for information. Click on the option to "Open a folder to view files" if the window pops up.

Click on the "Start" button if your operating system does not automatically prompt you to open a folder. Choose the "My Computer" option to bring up a new window.

Right-click on the drive bay for your card reader, and then choose the option that says "format" from the pop-up menu. Click on the option to set the formatting to "FAT16" if you receive a separate pop up window asking you which file system to set the card to.

good luck

When I put the memory card in and turn on the camera, it keeps saying memory card error.

Hi,

If camera show Memory Card Error, Check whether the card is inserted properly or not. For SD card, check out the card lock switch is in the correct position and not stuck in between.

You can Format the memory card in the camera using the Setup Menu option (Format). Please be aware that formatting the memory card will remove any images currently stored on the card along with any other data.

If after formatting the card do not clear the error, try another memory card. If this occurs with only the one card it is likely that the memory card is defective, if the error persists over more than one card the camera may require service.

Rating the solution is highly appriciated...Good Luck

New 2 GB Memory cards say cards full when installed

The SD card may have to be reformated. You should do this in the camera you want to use the SD card with. Do not format the card with your computer.

In you manual or on the menu of your camera there is a "Format" procedure. follow that and your camera will work again (REMEMBER) if you have images on the SD card down load them before you format the card.

Once you down load the images from your camera you should reformat the card to clear it in order to shoot more images.

    Memory card

The camera takes a SD memory card if you have one that is not working you can try to format it with a computer that has a memory card reader and see if that fixes it or try to format it from the camera under the setup menu. Eather way some camera format process and block struckure is diffrent so a memory card needs to be formatted for each camera so work fine between each other and some don't.

    hope this helps.

Formatting SD Card to shoot stills

    Hello Sir

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.
