Question about Toshiba Satellite A45-S250 Notebook

Toshiba Satellite M55-S1001 Laptop

Probem is it automatically shut off. Then I brought it to a repair shop and it becomes bad to worst. Original program was totally erased. A friend of mine told me that from the website I can retrived the original program by relaying the serial from the sticker at the bottom of the laptop. I do not know if my laptop is obsolete or old model. No way I can use the loptop. Is it still repairable or disposable?

Hi,

Your initial concern (auto shutting down) with some Toshiba could be caused by excessive power drain by some of the attached devices such as the WiFi, LAN among others. On the other hand, it could also indicate that the battery is already weak and constantly requires charging and at times eats up most of the power from the adapter leaving nothing for the motherboard to use. In some repairs I have done, switching off / or removing entirely unneeded devices correct the problem. In some instances, auto shut down is caused by dirty/clogged airducts/heatsink of the processor, failing blower/fan and/or poor ventilation.

You can have the Operating System re-installed using any Windows (I am assuming XP) OEM installer CD and to use the key printed in the sticker underneath your laptop to make it legitimate. The next challenge would be getting appropriate drivers to make all the devices in and with the laptop work as expected.

As long as it powers, POSTs and boots or look for an Operating System, then it is repairable and then of course would be usable.

There would be a number of qualified techs who could work on your laptop, ask around those who have experienced similar problems and have received good services.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

How can chang my vga card for m55-s135

Unfortunately your video card on the M55 is part of the motherboard itself...it is an integrated chip. You would have to take it to a repair shop that has the machine capable of desoldering all the connections and resoldering a new graphics chip to the board. Buying a new motherboard may end up cheaper in the long run, but I have seen repair adds on EBay from companies that specialize in these types of repairs. Give it a look and see what you think.

You definitely need to bring your laptop to the Toshiba shop near you. There they can facilitate the replacement of your laptop's body (casing). It is a critical task to do and I think a Toshiba authorized shop can help you with this. Thanks.

My toshiba M55 Satellite will not boot up. My

Take the hard drive out and see if anything comes up on the screen. If so, replace the hard drive.

Does the screen get any brighter when you turn on the laptop? If not, the lcd cable, or power inverter may have gone bad.

Did you have any blue screen of death errors, or any other kind of errors before the screen problem? If so, you may have bad memory. Do you hear any beeps?

Toshiba laptop power cable won't charge battery

I had the same problem with my HP laptop some years ago. you have a broken cable/cord and it is the part that is permanently attached with your power pack. If you look at the cord that plugs into your laptop, you can be able to see the faulty part of it. it is usually very flexible or swollen. You can either take it to an electrical technician to change that part of the cord. Your power pack is still ok, but have the technician to check it out first before you change the cord. Else, you may have to get another power pack. below is the full specification of the power pack that is recommended for your laptop.

4 Beeps means there is a fault with the CPU.

It could be that the fan is faulty and needs replacing, or it coul be that the CPU is dead.

Unless you are technically mined enough to take the machine apart yourself, then your only course of action is to take it to a dealer for repair.
