Is it onboard? or a separate card? if its a separate card have it installed with the software of the soundcard. or if you dont have please check the model and try to look in internet where you can find the software for the soundcard, if its on board try to look for the cd installer of your motherboard it is bundled in there. hope this help you out

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Sound driver

Sorry pal. Machine is a DELL Inspiron 1721. No cable neither loudspeakers. I have no motherboard CD shipped with laptop. I already tried to install audio drivers from DELL Utilities & Drivers CD, but OS refuses to recognize that a soundcard is present.

Thanks anyway. It has to be solved by someone who's had the same problem and managed to work around it.

Upgrading a dell gx260

when buying you need to ask for a low profile pci card for sound or video
What alot of manufacturers do is put in 2 plates which unscrews from the boards , which allows for either a regular tower installation or you use the short one for the desktops

here have a look at this site
http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&resnum=0&q=low+profile++pci+card+for+desktops&um=1&ie=UTF-8&checkout=1&sa=X&oi=product_result&resnum=1&ct=checkout-restrict
I hope that is helpful or a fix for your problem
