Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console
PSP comes on and plays fine then the screen goes black but the sound and buttons still work. We end up having to turn it off then back on and it does it again. Any idea whats wrong with it or how it can be fixed? Thanks
I am having the same problem. The screen will intermittently come on as blurry. Like all the text and graphics are doubled, but off by a few pixels. Doing a sleep and turning it back on usually fixes it. But I can not operate my PSP for more than like 10 seconds to a minute (varying) until the screen freezes and fades to black from right to left. This usually occurs by pressing any of the buttons on the front panel. If I am reading the news in the browser for instance and it is just sitting there, it is fine, then the second I hit a button, fades to black. After it fades to black, sound and buttons continue to work. I figured it was a bad LCD, so I purchased a brand new OEM LCD screen and installed it, however, the problem still persists with the new LCD screen, so it is not the screen itself.

Can u tell me on which firmware version you are in now.... Try do the Restore default settings....
Settings>> System Settings>> Restore Default settings
if you are in official firmware update to the latest (4.05 at present). Or if you are in custom firmware update that to 4.01M33-2....
Please update if the problem still exists
Download official firmware 4.05 from: http://dj01.psp.update.playstation.org/update/psp/image/jp/2008_0714_8497dd2b3485e934b073948b558221c3/EBOOT.PBP
Download the latest custom firmware: http://exophase.com/files/psp/401M33-2.rar
if you are in 3.40OE version you cannot update directly to 4.01M33 ..so its important to know your present firmware version

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
