I once had a what you might call beating sound, and that was when I'd plugged in the DC power chord at the back the wrong way round! On my unit, the side of the connector where it says "DC Power" must be up. If you look closely you'll also see that two of the pins (or rather the plastic around them) have a different shape; same for two corners of the receptacle in the unit. These must match.

I can't remove the speaker

Remove the protecting grill in front. Check if the cone is still connected to the rubber band. If not, remove the screws around the speaker. Open the casing itself. Do not forget the screw in the middle of the battery compartment. Remove the bottom cover. Disconnect the 2 wires on the speaker and take out the speaker. It will come out with the plastic protection around it. Looking at the cone now, push up the Carton cone and keep it in place by putting some tissue paper or small cloth underneath. Clean the cone first. Use some rubber cement on the outer edges of the cone and press the rubber back on the cone. Let it dry for an hour and then remove the tissue / cloth, so the cone goes back to its normal position. You can use some extra rubber (those pre-glued strips that you would use to fix a bicycle tire) to make it extra strong. Remount everything back in place and voila....it works again! If your cone is not damaged, the casing most probably does not seal good anymore. Tighten all screws a little more and use plastic electrical tape all around to seal all joints. The bass is produced inside the casing itself and pushed out via a horn. If it is not closed off well, your bass sounds grumpy.

New unit doesn't charge IPOD when plugged into 110v

make sure you have the cord plugged in to the DC IN 9V outlet in the speakers and not the audio in. Sounds simple but this is what I was doing wrong.

Nano 8gb does not charge battery(3th generation)

the ipod of the 4th generation does only charge in USB mode and the Harman & kardon speaker only supports I link charge mode(fire wire 1394) so i bought an awsome sounding machine wich does not charge my ipod nano.
however i must say that i have a solution, when you put the USB cable in the back of the H&K, you can charge the nano with a charging device of an ipod.

Sounddock 1 :No sound unless I push down on the iPod

Turn the sound dock over and you will see the connection for the iPod is on a separate piece of plastic, almost looks like it has been bolted onto the main bit. It means a connection will be loose between these two parts in some way. Contact Bose to get this serviced.

No volume working on ipod docking station

I would lean towards saying dry joints on the circuit board. You have not said under what conditions sound comes out such as when its first turned on or if you give it a tap or when it gets warm. If you can solder do it yourself or if you are even slightly unsure entrust a competant person. Good luck.

Hi, I guess that's just a problem that can't be solved by yourself, you'll probably have to bring it back.

I have thesame speakerset, but I don't know how you can remove that thing where the ipod stands in. That plastic thing that comes in a lot of different sizes. I hope that you can help me with removing it and putting an other one in.
