Question about Compaq Presario R3000 Notebook
Here what happend...
I had just installed the latest version of Real Player. Upon launching Real for the first time my computer essentially just locked up. I did CTRL+ALT+DEL a couple of times to kill the process but It was taking so long I opted to do it manually. I held the power button down until it shut off. I've done this in the past and never had any problems. Now when I turn on the computer I get "A Disk Read Error Occured. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart". Just before the message appears I hear a beep or two. I realized now that it beeped like this as I was trying to kill the Real Player process earlier. I ran an HDD self test from the BIOS and it passed without errors. I am running a completely stock laptop running Windows XP SP2. Any ideas? I hope it's not a hardware problem as I have a bit of data I'd like to save.
Since the bios hard drive test passed , ujr hard drive is ok and mostly all ur data is ok . Only windows went corrupt (normally it doest when u turn off that way ) reinstall it dont use the recovery disks , but use a windows installation cd to re-install windows , but take care that when u install ,install on a different partition and remember to take the option leave the current partition intact without changes , so that none of ur data is disturbed.
