TRU8885 in Australia Charger/Power Adapter Issues

Hi
I bought TRU8885-3 of US Ebay (for a very good price). The phones are working here in Australia (except programming the area code requies 3 digits). My problem is that extra handsets will not recharge. Iam using a generic charger because of 240/120V problem of the originals. These are 9V 1000mA, the originals are 210mA. When plugged in, with handset in the craddle, the light comes on to show it is recharging. However it is not and eventually the handset runs out of battery.
Why not! I don't know. Any ideas, anyone!

Try to re charge on base. phone contacts base and hand set may require cleaning. the charging light may have separate circuit and may not be in series so you may get false indicator. the 1000 ma is good current and should charge correctly.

Contact The point of purchase. The phone should come with a charger. Or you can contact Looking For Help to find a replacement.

I have a Uniden TRU8885 - 3 Base, when I plug into power suply, it turn on, but after the base turn on and display the message welcome, the base turn off

buy higher capacity power adapter 9volts 1000mA capacity and use ensuring correct polarity, it will work. i had the problem and adopted this and this works ok. also ensure your handset battery is new and charged after installing the higher capacity power adapter. good luck. venkataramani

Handset charger is not charging..

is it the charger, or is it the phone not taking a charge? Many times it's the battery inside the handset. I'd try that first.
Otherwise, you can test the voltage of the power supply charger with a volt meter. If you've got the proper voltage listed on the transformer plug (normally around 5 volts DC).

Battery and mains charger needed

Hi,

To purchase battery,

http://www.gmkbatteries.co.uk/Cordless_Phone_Battery/BT/SYNERGY%202110/x/4/3/true.html

I can also check a place to purchase mains's charger.

But,

Check the price. If you purchase charger and battery, the price would be more than the price for the new phone.

Check the price - Only 9.9 B.Pounds.....

I Hope i might have helped you to take a decision.

I have a 3 pack Panasonic cordless phone system model kx-TGA542M. I ran over and shreded the cord with a vacuum cleaner and the charger PQLV30030ZAM no longer works. 1. Can I find a replacement...

Start by putting in the very same part number you put in here.
It will lead you to the base without power supply, and a reference to a KX-TC1 power supply. How about this one?http://www.google.com/search?q=kx-tca1&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GGLL_en

Adding a new handset

You need to register the new handset with the base.
In Global settings De-register the new handset then place it on the main base unit connected. It should then register.

Deregister lost or broken phones

Some tricks from a helpful Uniden rep:

holding down end+# keys at the same time on the phone for about 10 secs (you will hear a beep) will deregister the handset. If you have a dead handset and want to deregister it from the base, you have to reset the base. unplug the phoneline and power. hold down the "delete message" key, plug power back in. about 10 secs later, you will hear a long beep (theres a short beep upon powerup as well). At this point all handsets are deregistred and you will have to reregister them with the end+# trick. this way when #1 handset is dead, you can make a working one #1 and get the broken one fixed emotion-1.gif

BTW, this is a woot warranty, not uniden warranty. however the uniden rep gave me the number to the people who refurb (rox0rz!) these. I'll post an update when I finally get ahold of them (and the number if its actually helpful)

How to change Flash timing

The only reference to flash timing I can find in the manual is shown below for you, also here is link to manual :
I hope it helps !
http://www.uniden.com/products/productdetail.cfm?product=TRU8885-2

If you have Call Waiting service and a call waiting
tone sounds while you are on a call, press talk/flash
on the handset or flash/find hs on the base to accept
the waiting call. There is a short pause, and then you
will hear the new caller. To return to the original
caller, press talk/flash on the handset or flash/find
hs
on the base again.

Setting the Ring Time
Ring Time allows you to set the number of rings the caller hears before your
answering system plays the outgoing message. You can set the ring time to answer
after two, four, or six rings. If you enable the Toll Saver (TS), the answering system
picks up after two rings if you have new messages and after four rings if there are
none.
1) Enter the Answ. Setup menu, and then the Ring Time
submenu (see "Entering the Menu" on page 16).
2) Press volume up/down to select a Ring Time (Toll
Saver, 2 Times, 4 Times, or 6 Times).
3) Press the OK soft key. You will hear a confirmation tone.
Setting the Record Time
Record Time sets the duration for recording the incoming messages. You have three
record time options. The options "1 minute" or "4 minutes" set the duration for
recording the incoming messages. "Announce only" answers the call but prevents
the caller from leaving a message.
1) Enter the Answ. Setup menu, and then the Record
Time submenu (see "Entering the Menu" on page 16).
2) Press volume up/down to select Record Time
(1 Minute, 4 Minutes, or Announce Only).
3) Press the OK soft key. You will hear a confirmation tone.

De-register/register

To De-register handset while original base present:
-Use De-register menu

To De-register handset without original base present:
-Press and hold "End" button, and while holding that, press and hold # as well.
OR
-Remove battery
-While holding * and # replace battery, and keep holding
-You should hear one beep (let go now)
-Press right menu soft button (at top)
-Should hear one beep and Clear EEPROM/RAM on screen
-Remove and replace battery once again (no need to hold any buttons now)

(USING ANY OF THE TWO METHODS ABOVE MEANT FOR NON-BASE PRESENT, WHILE BASE IS PRESENT WILL TAKE UP HANDSET SPACE ON BASE, eg. HS1 will become HS2, while base reserves HS1 name... a base reset will be required to deal with this).

Resetting the base itself (if you have any handsets deregister them normally before this)
-Unplug power
-Hold 'Delete Messages' key while plugging power back until beep (88 or 0 messages may show)
-Press PLAY once
(To check that all went well, check to see if anything shows under ROOM MONITOR, nothing should be there)

Uniden Tru8885-2

The older Tru8885 phones will not work with the new base unit. My recommendation would be to ebay those and then buy new ones or find replacements for your new base on ebay also.
