Why would my ground get so hot it would melt plastic

A very likely solution is that loose connections cause the Lugs (connections) to heat up. It is a good idea for people to ever so often check connections in your Breaker Boxes or even behind an Electric Ranges or any large electrical unit. (knock breaker for safety).

I have received an EGO 50.52076.070 energy regulator as a replacement for an old Diamond H 31ER1HT, included was a wiring diagram showing the following connections for the replacement, P1 : Line. ...

Unfortunately the EGO 50.52076.070 is not the correct replacement for a Diamond H 31ER1HT as it does not have a live pilot connection.

We were heating up our GE Profile JTP56 double oven to use for the first time after I installed a new Oven Electronic Range Control. It was all looking great...then, it all just went off. The breaker...

Hi--  Since you've gone this far already- let's check this stuff first.  >Power connections at bus block.  >L1 and L2 connections at control.  >Any ground connections.      Start with power off and visually inspect connections.  Bus block is difficult to access for live testing, but can be seen with bright flashlight.  Connections on board route all the power, so make sure all are tight.  Please acknowledge this post if info is helpful- have more if needed.  Thanks- Ed

Oven died and will not turn on

Check the receptacle it plugs to. SOMETIMES the connections come loose there. If the wires show signs of heating, then they must be cut back to fresh clean strands. If it is aluminum wire, you must abrade the fresh strand and apply the anti-oxide grease.

If there has bee heating at the connections, USUALLY the receptacle requires replacement as the plating will have been burned at the contacts making it unsafe.

Also check the connections at the breaker for heating.

Also check the connections of the pigtail on the oven.

A voltmeter is your friend to troubleshoot this.
