Ensure that you have the correct DNS settings programmed. Without them, the printer cannot find the email gateway, even if your settings are correct otherwise.,

It seems like you are using one of the mail client, like outlook express, MS Outlook, Mac Mail etc.

If that is correct, kindly check the Incoming and outgoing Server ports setup on your email client and replace the same with the correct one, in case you want can find the list of most common email domains server address in below mentioned link.

I tried the scan to email feature of lexmark x544. I get an error message on the SMTP gateway. Is SMTP gateway the same as incoming and outgoing server?

SMTP is the outgoing mail server. If you're getting a error on the smtp gateway, please verify with email provider and check what is the correct outgoing mail server

For further assistance, please contact Lexmark Technical Support

I cannot send mail on my MacBook Pro (Intel) using OS X's Mail program at home using my 2wire; it works at the office on Cable. What's wrong with my settings and is it software or hardware?

You may be using the wrong SMTP address for the Outgoing mail server address for your email service.

If you are not sure what your SMTP Outgoing Mail Server address is, then you can reference this link
below, to locate the Outgoing mail server address of your current email service provider

Link: POP & SMTP Email Server Addresses
---------------------------------------------------------------------
In regards to checking your mail settings in Mac OS X Mail you will need to perform these few steps:

*Launch Mail
• Click on Mail name and select Preferences from
the drop down menu.
• Now select the Account tab.
• Locate your affected email account from the side
bar and from Account Information, make sure
your Outgoing mail server address is correct.

I am using a .Mac account as an example,
but the same principal applies.

Now if you do find that the Outgoing mail server address for your email service is correct, then the issue may be with the SMTP server for your email service.

One way to determine SMTP functionality however, is to go online and use the web mail page for your email account and send out a test email.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I would also recommend you make sure your Macbook Pro also has the most current version update.

Apple usually has bug fixes in each of their version updates for the Mac OS X Mail application, as well as other built in Mac OS X applications.

If you are still unable to send outgoing mail, contact your service provider to get more assistance and have them check your SMTP server address, authentication and connection with their Outgoing Mail servers.

Unable to access email account on acer net book . i have a laptop running blueyonder broadband, when i try to connect my netbook to my outlook express email account i get unable to access the mail server.

Hi

This sounds like your user account settings are not correct and need to be input via the account management section to look like the following:

  • Customer Email format - [email protected]
  • Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.blueyonder.co.uk
  • Outgoing server type - SMTP
  • Incoming mail server - pop3.blueyonder.co.uk
  • Incoming server type - POP3
  • Password - for example, Rich4rd1

  • Thanks

    Firewall is blocking incoming emails

Do you have an email server in place? If so, you need to setup port 25 for inbound access to the IP address of the email server. I would suggest that you don't allow all as that will open up everything and kind of negates the reason to have a firewall. Some ISPs block port 25 though and use port 587.

If you don't have an email server then the problem might be with your email client configuration.

We have numerous Gateway servers. The server business was sold to MPC and now they've gone under. Where do we go for support? Some of our servers are still under warranty - is that now useless?

Support, you're out of luck I'm afraid. Find a local computer company that can do server work on the scale you need would be my best suggestion. The warranty is a little trickier. It depends on exactly what warranty you got. If I understand correctly and you bought the servers from Gateway before they sold, then Gateway still holds warranty obligations on them IF you have certain warranties then they must replace with equivalent or better - but seeing as they got out of servers, they will probably just give you a desktop that is comparable in specs, even though it's not at all the same thing. A description of the Gateway warranties is here. I kind of doubt that you'll get any traction unless you bring up the legal obligations they have under the specific document that covers your case. Even then, they might refuse and you'd have to get lawyers involved, but at this point it's probably not worth it.

So it took me that long to say: Probably Gateway won't do anything for you. Possibly you can get spares from online retailers or auction sites to replace your aging hardware, but this technique can only last so long.
