My HP scanjet 7650 shows error 04 when I switch on

Install the latest drivers from the website. To download:
1 Go to hp.com 2 Click on Support and Drives 3 Enter your product name or number, in this case just type in Officejet 8500 All-In-One 4 Hit go 5 Choose your operating system 6 Hit Next 7 Click on the link that says Driver - Product Installation Software 8 Save it to your desktop
But before Installing the Software, use the Disc that came with the printer so you can do an L3_Uninstall first.

To go for an L3_Uninstall:
1 Go to My Computer (XP), Computer (Vista and Win7) 2 Right Click on the Driver CD, The one that has the HP Logo 3 Open Util 4 Open CCC 5 Double Click on the icon that says Uninstall_L3
The Uninstall will prompt you to restart the computer once it's done. After doing so, Install the newly downloaded software.
Try scanning again, I hope this worked. :)

Scanner showing error 04 and cant let me scan
Disconnect the power supply from the back of the scanner base.
Disconnect the USB Interface cable and the ADF Accessory cable from the back of the scanner.
Press and hold the E-mail and Copy buttons at the same time. While pressing the E-mail and Copy buttons, reconnect the power supply to the scanner.
Reconnect the power supply and turn on the scanner.
Press the Scan Doc button. the carriage will start moving back and forth in the full scan bed length. To exit test, disconnect the power supply.

now try to scan the document ..........

Hp scanjet 7650 urgent issue...
I am assuming that you're using the XP operating system. If it's another operating system please do tell me.

I see that it's a problem with your software (that came with your HP scanjet). I use a Samsung at home, so I have not used it.
However, here's a tutorial to scan WITHOUT using your HP software

Hi

these scanner take a bit of work-open the front and then close the front- there is a latch to open the front of the scanner at the top of the front panel. this will clear the 04-08 or 24 error.
sometimes it's best to switch the scanner off and then back on which will reset the connection between the scanner and the PC

Hp scanjet 7650 will not close
Played with the installation of the assembly until hatch would close - but then paper still fed in crookedly.
I am going to have to try to get a new roller assembly & see if that fixes the problem.
I am not very happy with the HP Scanjet 7650.
