After running an AntiVirus program make sure to write down the name(S) of any that are detected including the path if its given.
Especially some Trojans require more than just one action to remove it. If you don't notice any problems in performance don't worry but if you do, take these steps you'll be surprised that it isn't always gone.

***TURN OFF SYSTEM RESTORE***

1) Do a search on each viruses name (1 @ a time)
2) Right click on it selecting "open containg folder" or to that effect.
3) Take a look at surrounding folders if any, to see any others having at least part of the file name in it. These are the ones you right click "delete" and quickly empty recycle bin.
4) Now do a search for prefetch. If you have more than one look for C:Windows. Hit Ctrl + A on your keyboard at the same time highlighting all files/folders. Delete/empty recycle bin.
5) Next restart your pc. This will flush out the different memory locations.
If you still think your pc is infected post back. I'll try to help with finding the others locations viruses tend to hide.

Tips how to remove a virus that can not be handled Anti-virus

There is a very powerful tips to remove the virus, if the various Anti Virus that we use entirely powerless against it (probably only detect, but can not delete it). To do this would require a Bootable CD that contains a minimum of the File Manager program, such as Ultimate Boot CD, BartPE, and the like. Some programs are DOS-based and others are windows based. Or we could use a Linux Live CD, like Knoppix, Ubuntu Live CD and others. In General, the following steps:
  1. Find the location of the virus, especially the origin of the virus is running on your computer (the host)
  2. Once obtained, note (note) information such as file size, date (although the virus can change the size and date, but most always the same size and date. Can find similar files and recorded their location.
  3. Once obtained, use one of the Bootable CD and restart the computer to boot from a CD (you might need his first set its BIOS to first boot the CD / DVD-ROM).
  4. Open the file manager program, which is available. If using windows NT, XP or above, make sure the program supports reading NTFS format
  5. Find the file / virus and delete or if still in doubt, just rename from *. exe to *. VRS example. To convince, use the search facility to find files with the same size or nearly the same date. If found , you can rename it.
  6. Back restart the computer and check again

I can not update my anti virus software. it shows as updated successfully but it does not repair virus, merely it detacts virus

Bro not all updated virus softwares can heal your PC Virus. Like in my PC, the best thing I did to eliminate it is to backup my files and reformat it then install a fresh copy of licensed softwares but not all time. You can also upload a virus to the internet and report it to Virus Fixer companies so that they can study it and fix it. TIme will come after a month or so you may have your computer back to normal. Mostly virus sites were underground. For most protection don't dare visit. :)

Computer has viruses which might be why it has a the blue screen

Try entering safe mode and doing the virus scan:
  • Switch on your PC
  • Before the Windows Logo screen appears press F8 to get the startup options menu
  • Chose Safe Mode
  • Once your computer boots, run AVG and let it remove all the viruses. Reboot and it should go into Windows as normal. You might have to rerun the scan a few times to get rid of everything but it should do the job.

I have a virus and stmanteec antivirus notification keeps popping up on my screen: What can I do??? Help Scan type: Auto-Protect Scan Event: Threat Found! Threat: Trojan.Zlob File: ...

If you have a virus you can not delete or if your system will not boot up correctly and you suspect a virus is the problem, a recommended solution is to start your computer in safe mode and run a virus scan. By running your computer in safe mode, non-essential processes do not start and non-core components are disabled. In other words, only the minimum necessary programs will load. Tough to remove viruses, spyware and other malware usually have no chance to run and disrupt your system and can more easily be removed.
**To run a virus scan in safe mode, you must have active anti virus software installed on your computer.
To run a virus scan in safe mode, follow these steps:
  1. If your computer is on, shut it down
  2. Power on your computer
  3. Immediately after you power on your computer, repeatedly press the [F8] key (about once per second)
  4. In the Windows Advanced Options Menu screen, use the arrows to select Safe Mode and presss [Enter]
  5. Select your current operating system and press [Enter]
  6. Select the user you would like to login under (if applicable)
  7. When your system finishes booting, click the Start button on your task bar
  8. Move your cursor over All Programs and navigate to your anti virus program
  9. Click on your antiv virus program to run it and follow the anti virus program’s normal steps to run a virus scan
  10. After the virus scan is complete, Delete all detected viruses
  11. Close out of your anti virus software
  12. Restart your computer (it should start in normal mode)

Funey UST scandle.avi.exe virus

It's hard to remove that said virus because you cannot install or update your anti virus even in the said mode because the virus is close the program quickly or disable it. I fixed my costumer computer last week with the same problem. I remove the hard disk and installed to the other computer with updated anti virus installed (bitdefender internet security). I removed the virus then when i returned it to his original cpu i run the registry mechanical to fix the registry problem. MY customer is happy because he said his files and his computer working great now.
