I have completed the de-scaling process. "De-scale" still appears on the LCD screen. My coffee maker will make only 1/2 half cup even though it is programmed for a full cup. If I do not use a K-cup I get a full cup of hot water. I would like to remove "de-scale" from LCD and get a full cup of coffee.

Ginko---My daughter started the descaling process last time....she's back at college...not sure how to start it again.

    Ginko--

Good advice...disconnected and descale is no longer on LCD, but the machine only fills half a cup eventho a full cup was requested. This situation is what prompted us to descale to begin with...what could be causing this?

Hi.

This happens when the descale has not been done for some times.

Restart the descaling. This time keep a container with a couple of pints of water ready near to the machine.
While descaling is on, keep refilling the machine water container, so that the De-scale does not end before being complete.
You may need to refill the container two or three times before Descale disappears from display.

Regards.

Ginko.

    Hi.

De-scaling instructions for B-70 should be the same as the B100 instructions in this link (please click here).

You can use vinegar, descaling solution or citric acid for the first part of descale. If more water is required you can use just water.
If you have never done de-scale before you can wait for your daughter and ask some assistance. Although the operation is not too difficult, it may still result tricky if you have never done it.

Vinegar, may leave a quite unpleasant smell for some times. I suggest using citric acid in granules mixed with water. Something like this will do: Citric Acid 100% Pure - 4 oz.

    Regards.

    Ginko.

I wanted to add that you can try resetting the machine by disconnecting power cord for two minutes (power reset). If the display Descale message will clear you will be able to use the machine.
I still suggest doing a complete descale as soon as possible. If descale message stays on display it means that the machine did not complete descale.

Please read also my previous message, it includes descaling instructions.

Re: This situation is what prompted us to descale to begin with...what could be causing this?

If machine prompted descale, then descale was not complete. Disconnect again, this time wait fifteen or twenty minutes (just in case, but 5 will be OK). If problem was electronic settings, the machine will reset (this machine does not have memory battery).
If problem, like I think, is blockage caused by the descale process, you need to do descale again, and this time do the complete procedure.

I lost my manual. How do I de-scale? Does this not allow you to brew a cup until it has been de-scaled?

From http://www.keurig.com/customer-service/brewer-registration-and-support/~/media/Files/Keurig%20Brewer%20Manuals/De-scaling_instructions.ashx
To begin, you will need the following:
  • 48 ounces of undiluted white vinegar
  • Large ceramic mug (do not use a paper cup)
  • Access to an empty sink

PREPARE Step 1: Empty the water in the Water Reservoir. Step 2: Disable "Auto Off" features.
FILL AND CLEAN Step 1: Pour approximately 48 ounces of the vinegar into the Water Reservoir. Step 2: Place a large mug on the Drip Tray Plate and run a brew cycle. DO NOT USE A K-CUP, just press the BREW Button. Pour the contents of the large mug into the sink. Step 3: Repeat the brew process without a K-Cup until "ADD WATER" is indicated. Step 4: Now let the Brewer stand for at least 4 hours while still on. Step 5: Discard any residual vinegar and rinse the Water Reservoir thoroughly.
RINSE Step 1: Ensure the Water Reservoir is filled with fresh water. Step 2: Place a large mug on the Drip Tray Plate and water brew cycle. Pour the contents of the large mug into the sink. Step 3: Repeat brew process until "ADD WATER" is indicated. Step 4: You may need to perform additional water brew cycles if you notice any residual taste. NOTE: If "DE-SCALE" is still displayed after completing the procedure, repeat the de-scaling procedure above.

Coffee maker never makes proper size, almost always have to run it 2-3 times to get even a small mug. Intermittently shuts off completely, have to turn it on in back. (B70)

Sorry to read about your issue.

The brewer should be de-scaled at least every 3-6 months. Scale is harmless, but if left unattended, it can hinder optimal brewer performance. De-scaling your brewer regularly helps maintain the heating element, removable water reservoir and other parts of the brewer that come in contact with water. Better water quality and water heating means a better cup of coffee, tea, hot cocoa or iced beverage. We recommend de-scaling your brewer at least every 6 months (every 3 months if your water has a high mineral content). The de-scaling process involves using 48 ounces of undiluted white vinegar.

Take 48 oz of white vinegar. place in tank. pretend you are making coffee (Do No Use K Cup). let the water fill you mug. then empty that mug. Do it again until tank is empty. then let sit for 4 hours.
Then fill with fresh water to the top. let that tank of water run thru. towards the end taste the water.
If you taste vinegar..use more clean water, until the taste is ok.
