Question about Sony ICF-CD555TV 7 in. Portable Television
I have a Sony ICF-CD555 kitchen TV with a flip-down LCD screen. I think the kids were too rough in flipping it around and I now have to gently maneuver the screen this way and that to get the picture to come in. Otherwise the screen is black with no sound. Does anyone know how to repair this? The screen does work, it just seems that there's a bad connection somewhere.
Your analysis is quite correct. The basic design is similar to that of laptops and flip cellular phones. The design calls for the use of flexible/ribbon/flat multi wire/conductor cable. In most instances such as this, the operation is intermittent, it is just possible a loose connector or cold solder in any of the wires.
If you are considering a do-it-yourself, these pages (1, 2 and 3) on laptop display repair might be informative. The bulk of the repair would be in removing the lid/cover and exposing the wire/cable. A bit of soldering or pushing in the connector and then re-assembly.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
