Question about Hannspree 22" widescreen LCD Flat Panel HD Monitor

Compatible with Mac?

Just bought the Hannspree HF229H monitor at Best Buy to use with my Mac PowerBook G4. I also bought a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter. Plugs in fine but the install software CD is not working. Can I get installation software to make this monitor work with my Mac or do I need a different monitor?
Thank you!

G$ powerbook will have a high-density video connector providing (usually) VGA and DVI,

All you have to do is to choose the relevant adapter and connect the two units together with a suitable lead.

I would like to know what adapter (DVI to VGA Cable Adapter) I need to connect to a Macintosh G4. Thanks

Without knowing what Model Number of MAC G4 you're referring to, I can only give you generic information.

If your MAC G4 has a DVI port it is generally the female style.
The DVI connector on the adapter will need to be a male DVI style.

The VGA end of the adapter will be either male, or female. Most VGA connectors on a monitor cable have a male VGA end.

(The DVI end will have the pins sticking out on the adapter. The VGA end will have the socket holes)

Also stated as the monitor cable end will be a DVI male. The port {Connection} on the computer is a VGA female)

Example of a DVI male to VGA female adapter,

http://sewelldirect.com/dviaftovgam.asp

Barring that you need the other style of DVI to VGA adapter, (DVI female on the monitor cable, VGA male on the computer), this is an example,

[ Note* The newer VGA connectors are also known as an HD-15 connector.
More information on the Video Graphics Array connector,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector

More information on the DVI connector styles, and the Digital Visual Interface technology,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

If you should find all of this confusing, simply state in a Comment as to what connector is on the end of the monitor cable, and what connector is at the computer.

State whether the connectors are Male (Pins sticking out), or Female (Socket holes)

I want to connect an LG 32LD550 television monitor to an Intel based 24" I mac computer---what cable is needed?

The LG 32LD550 television has HDMI and VGA.
Your iMac has a mini-DVI output port with support for DVI, VGA, S-video, and composite video connections via adapter.
So all you need is either:
1) mini-DVI to VGA adapter.
2) mini-DVI to HDMI adapter.

HDMI is better quality, and so I'd recommend something like this: http://www.amazon.com/PTC-Mini-DVI-Adapter-6ft-Macintosh/dp/B001H0REVK (You may want a longer cable though).

How do i hook my samsung spl300 projector to my mac book pro

You can connect your Projector with the Mac Book Pro; However the problem is, mac comes with a DVI connector and your projector uses a VGA one.
You need to buy a DVI to VGA adapter from Apple if you don't have one already. You can buy it from the local apple stores or an online apple store.
There are two types of DVI-VGA adapters available (Please check the below images and see which one fits your Mac and go for it). Apple DVI to VGA Display Adapter
Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adapter Once you decided which one you need, go to an apple store or online apple shop and buy one.
Hope This helps.best regardsNextDoorNerd

What kind of adapter do I need?

Your mac mini more than likely has a DVI plug on it for a monitor. You just need a DVI to VGA adapter. You can get them at any computer store for around $7. You can get them at best buy also, but for some reason their cables and adapters are way overpriced.

If you don't have a mac mini, then your connection will be different. If that is the case then I would need to know that model of your computer. Here is a link to a random picture of a DVI port:

http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/graphics/infolib/homelib/dvi_output_jack600.jpg

Not to be confused with a proprietary port mac came out with, that is similar to DVI, but has a few extra pins for USB support. You can tell its not a standard DVI by the fact that it is oval shaped.

Display screen does not work

First of all, try a restart with the monitor attached.
Secondly try going to the system preferences panel- It should be in the dock - the icon with the apple and the light switch.
Try to "detect displays" and see if it comes up in the menu and if the screen responds..

Let me know what you find out.

My apple mini mac (no intel) hook up mag monitor 780

The Mac Mini has an adapter plug, DVI to VGA.
If you use the adapter and a VGA cable to the monitor there is not a noticeable difference.

Just be sure to know the resolution maximums of the MAG monitor before you think its the Mac.

Re: Video Card TOAST???

Given the environment and issue, sometimes a solid way to process of eliminate, is to add a display to the laptop. Laptop videocards are embedded/integrated in the motherboard/logic board. So, your Mac has not been specified. This provides for many variables. I'll keep this simple but thorough.

First, monitors. Unless you have a great hook up from the next level, you will most likely have a:
  • VGA monitor. if the monitor has the cable attached to it, and not via connectors, but actually runs into the back of the monitor, odds are it's VGA.
  • DVI monitor. Most DVI monitors do have atleast a VGA input.
DVI is digital and far more robust, but the cables and connectors might not outweight what you gain from it if you're not using it to, watch movies, edit video and or edit high resolution photo. If you already own a DVI monitor, then I feel the cable ( if 3-6 ft) and the "possible adapter"
($20) is well worth enjoying what you've paid for.

The "possible adapter" is a white (made by Apple for Apple) proprietary adapter that is required to connect any Macintosh laptop that IS NOT of the ALUMINUM POWERBOOK or MAC BOOK or MACBOOK PRO series, to a monitor. All recent Macintosh laptops ship with 1 form or another of a video adapter.

  • Mini VGA to VGA
  • Mini DVI to DVI
If you need to cross over VGA to DVI and DVI to VGA adapters are available, but you will then have to make note of the gender of the connecting port or cable end.

So, if you own:
  • A white G3/G4 IBook, the video output connection is MINI VGA.
  • Older Titanium Powerbooks, pre 667Mhz have a standard VGA on the rear.
  • 667Mhz-1Ghz Titanium Powerbook, all Aluminum Powerbooks, and ALL Macbook Pros have an on-board DVI female ports. In the rear for TIbooks and Rear right side on Aluminumbooks and MBPs.
  • All Macbooks utilize mini DVI.
SO, ON WITH THE QUESTION PLEASE!!

Connect a display to your laptop. If you get a picture, than more than likely, any component from the cable that runs from the motherboard, up into the display panel, to the inside of the display, is faulty.

If you do not get a picture, than its highly possible the video card or GPU has failed.

If you could specify your model, I can further assist you.
