Question about Garmin StreetPilot c340 GPS Receiver
What is the problem withtheae units????No power, just black
I had the same problem on a trip. Required two fixes and once I did this the unit worked fine.
1. Replace the fuse in the car adapter (reason it wasn't charging when I used it in the car).
2. See the users manual on page 31 regarding resetting your C340.

My Garmin C340 started to have problems powering on and transferring data through the
USB port when I connected a USB cigarette lighter/power cord. The
problems started when C340 carriage suction mount fell off of the car window, yanking the
USB cord. However, I was able to use the cradle and its separate power cord
to recharge the C340 and use it with no problem.
The problem is caused by abruptly pulling the USB connector, which cracked and broke the USB connector pin(s) housing needed to transfer the data.
All Garmin repair/service vendors stores would not repair my C340, only replace it where I would lose access to any future lifetime map updates unless I paid Garmin an extra $99.
I'm looking at transferring the internal EPROM chip that identifies my C340 serial number from the old broken C340 to another C340 but have not yet tries this...
