The problem is in the lines that run from indoor to outdoor unit.
You need to make sure all lines are slightly sloping towards outdoor unit

Water is building up in the front bottom of a Friedrich air conditioner window unit below the coil. Tried cleaning out the back drain holes but still building up. What else can I check? How does it drain...

John, good job on clearing the drip pan's drain hole. Now adjust the tilt of the rear of the unit to 1/4" to 1/2" downward tilt. Now the water will flow to the rear of the drip pan and out the drain hole more easily.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My friedrich zq05c10 is leaking water into my wall. Is there a drain plug and how do i clean it? it is at a 1/4 inch tilt toward the outside, so it is not that. any help is appreciated

If you go outside and look at the bottom of the unit, you will see a rubber stopper in a hole aproximatly 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter, remove this plug and the unit should drain properly, if the problem persists, go out side to back of unit and remove the retainer screw at the bottom edge of unit , go to the inside portion and unscrew and remove the face and slide unit toward you , the bottom of the pan behind the evaporator coil section there is a indenture where condensate escapes the drain pan, make sure this area is clear of debris, you can use a pipe cleaner to do this.
this should help.

I think 2 things will correct this problem. 1. be certain that the unit is tilted to theoutside about 1 inch or so. 2. be certain that the filter is clean.. Let me know if it does not solve it . have a great day

Why is there no drain hole for condesation to drip out?

Some of the Friedrich units will drip out in the back of the unit. There may be just a small bend in the base of the unit allowing a certain amount of draining just behind the rear coil. Most units require some water to remain in the back of the unit to help cool the unit off. This is why tilting in the window is important. Be sure not to tilt it too much or too much water will drain, causing the unit to overheat. Be sure to tilt it enough to where the water can drain properly or the water may drain in the house, down the wall.

I used to be a "Factory Authorized" person, and I bet Friedrich would rather do a warranty call than have you return the machine for a refund. Phone them to see if they are cooperative. When the tech gets there, you can ask ALL your questions and point out every little sticky thing. That's his job!

The tech will be able to get parts and know how to adjust things.

For the second person, you have to look into the space where the fan is hitting something. A mirror and a flashlight will be needed. I kind of get a feeling the water isn't draining fast enough. Look for a plastic tube from the front water pan to the rear water pan. They get plugged up.

Friedrich air conditioner

Dear cmr 1,
As you have mentioned that it look like the fan hitting something, this is possible. This kind of problem can occur while transporting the machine. Some times the fan becomes loose because of viberation. So the fan has to be realign. Regarding the tilt it is okay to have 1/4 inch tilt backwards. Since the air-conditioner is brand new it is advisable to contact the company.
