Microsoft is offering free phone support for this very popular problem. The number for Customer Support on SP3 update issues is:
866.234.6020
Be prepared to be in for the long haul. It's a long process and be ready to be at your computer for awhile. But they should be able to help you on this.
Good luck and "REMEMBER - PATIENCE".....

I can not login and the page will not load and email images will not download?

Microsoft have now dropped support for Windows XP, some users will no longer be able to login if they only have Service Pack 2, this is down to security upgrades that are not supported with this service pack.
In order to correct the problem you need to install Service Pack 3, as you can no longer do this through Windows/Microsoft Update you need to download it directly to your computer, use the link below to get SP3.

Tip

What Does It Mean When Support for My Operating System Ends?

Microsoft Support for Windows Vista (with no service packs installed) ended on April 13, 2010, while support for Windows XP (without Service Pack 3 installed) ended on July 13, 2010. Windows 2000 support ended on July 13, 2010 as well.
There is no Service Pack 3 for the 64-bit version of Windows XP. If you're running the 64-bit version of Windows XP with SP2, you have the latest service pack and will continue to be eligible for support and receive updates until April 8, 2014.
If you are still running a version of Windows where support has ended, it means that version of Windows will no longer receive any updates from the Windows Update or Microsoft Update site. These updates are generally provided for security reasons to help protect the PC from harmful viruses, spyware, malware, and other malicious software. Windows Update also provides new drivers for your hardware that can improve the reliability of Windows.
Hackers love to take a security vulnerability in Windows and exploit it to their advantage. So, if a vulnerability is found in Windows XP or Windows Vista and you are not running the latest service pack, you will not be protected and will be at risk.

How Can I Tell What Service Pack is Installed?
Follow these steps to discover what Service Pack is installed:
1) Click on the Start Button
2) Right-click on either My Computer or Computer (depending on your Windows version)
3) Click on Properties
On this window, it should tell you which version of Windows along with which service pack is installed). It should also tell you whether you are running a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows.

If you buy a copy of XP with the service pack, load the XP system CD and let it format and reset the hard drive. When it has loaded XP, install the required drivers and then install Service Pack 3, that will allow you to download the latest Microsoft updates and there you go, a new system.

Hi, when updating service packs; it is important in most cases to have the service pack prior to the one you want to download. “In your case; Service Pack 2.” if you are having trouble, check your computer “Basic Info” in the control panel. Check for updates; reinstall service pack 3. Thanks paul7of9

HP site said load XP SP3 upgrade Utility for system with AMD Processors. When I load this Utility and check for It is showing message Your system does not meet minimum requirements for this update. Update...

This means that microsoft has deemed your computer as not having the system requirements for the service pack.
Could be something as simple as you haven't installed service pack 1 ans 2 yet..
I would use windows update on your start menu, take all the recommended updates, generally once the updates required for service pack 3 are installed , then the next time you run windows update it will look for the next set of updates. sometimes it takes 2 or 3 update sessions to get the one you want if you havent updated your computer in some time..
