Hello,

Without knowing the make of the machine it will be hard to give specific steps. But, if you have a set of restore CD's you should be able to try reloading the sound drivers from that CD or the manufacturer CD if you have upgraded the card.

You can open the device manager by going to Start > Run > type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the device Manager you should see something that says unknown device with a yellow ! beside it. You can insert the restore cd or the manufacturer cd and click reinstall driver and when asked for the file... point it toward the cd drive and that should help.

*** Make sure that if you use the restore cd that you remove it from the cd before restarting the machine***

Thanks

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

Computer crashed, reloaded all software. Window xp home edition. Now speakers do not play. Did before crash. Tech says it should play. I have done all the test he recomends and still nothing. What am I...

You may need to download the software for the sound card, it is not part of the program in many recovery disks, go to the support site for your computer, Dell, HP, whatever the manufacturer is and load up software and driver downloads by the model or service tag number of your computer. Also go tot he start menu (lower left of tray) and click on "Control Panel", in the next window click on "Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices" then check to see that the volume is turned up on the sound or it is not muted.

No sound when i put in cd or dvd was working ok untill my computer crashed

check the following

Microsoft Volume Control or your mixer program mute options and volume sliders.
Connect headphones to the stereo phone jack on your CD-ROM drive’s front panel; adjust the volume control settings on the drive. If there is sound from your headphones, check the CD audio cable connection from the CD-ROM drive to the audio card.
Ensure the speakers are properly connected to the audio card’s output connector.

hope this can help

My Control Panel crashes when I switch views.

Please try to open control panel in safe mode and let me know what happens?
you can go to safe mode by tapping f8 when computer is starting up.
If safe mode works fine then any of the the start up item, third party service, spyware or useraccount is causing the problem.

To find if startup item is causing the problem we need to use the msconfig command on run and click on startup item and disable all apply close click and restart on prompt and try to open control panel on normal mode.

please let me know the safe mode status.
