GE Model PTC22MBMARWW About every three months I notice water under the vegetable bin. When i remove the bottom section of the freezer to gain access to the drain I find an ice buildup between the fan and the drain. I let the ice melt, soak up all the water and have blown compressed air down the drain tube to make sure it is clear but this problem keeps reoccurring. Any help would be much appreciated

SOURCE: Evaporator fan stops working due to ice buildup around fan.

you need a drain tube heater.it is like a chain fence tie made from alluminum, you can actually use the fence ties, wrap one side around defrost heater and stick the other side in drain.that will prevent it from happening again

SOURCE: Vegetable section too cold, freezing the vegetables

if youd like you can remove the affected crisper, locate the "adjustment slidelever" and remove it, behind there youll find a hole(which is what youve been restricting to lessen the cold air flow.) try wadding up a ball of perma-gum, window sealer, some sorta plug forthe hole, its not nessecary for function of refrig, only to make the crispers colder, but usually too cold. blocking of fthe hole willl make the crispers only as cold as rest of refrig

SOURCE: vegetables are freezing inside vegetable bin

Most likely your refrigerator is set at too cold a setting. Just turn the temperature adjustment to a warmer setting.

Where is the draining hole in a ge profile model tbx25pa refrigerator with top freezer

Underneath the cooling coil (evaporator) located in the freezer, there is a drain pan with a heater to warm it during the defrost cycle. The drain opening is probably blocked by ice or debris.

Ge model number tbx21jaxerww. Water collecting under vegetable bins

Hi,
The water building under the veggie bins problem is usually a result of the drain under the evaporator coils being clogged with either ice or debris.
The get to the drain, the shelves and sometimes the bins will need to be removed, then the back panel will need to be removed. There usually are a few screws on each side that hold the panel in place...
Then look for the drain right under the coil....if possible run a wire down the hole to make sure it is open to the pan underneath.
If it is frozen then a wire can be used to keep the drain open...here is a tip about how to do that...

Water collects in the fresh meat compartment (in refrigerator section). Ice forms on the bottom (under the fresh vegetable bins) of the refrigerator.

Your drain is likely plugged and not allowing the defrost water to drain out. You will need to remove the rear freezer panel and thaw the drain. I would recommend installing a drain heater while you have it apart. They are inexpensive and easy to install. They come with installation instructions.

GE TBF17PC top freezer water under vegetable

The drain hole is inside the freezer. you have to take the back panel off to get to it and thaw/clean it out. if this drain stops up it will cause water to run down the back wall of the refrigerator down to the bottom. you can pull the refrigerator out from the wall and see the plastic tube coming from the back of the freezer.

I have water puddling up under my Vegetable bins

Our fridge had the same problem with water under the crispers. My husband removed the slide out bottom out of the freezer section and exposed the galvanized trough that drains the defrost water into the drainage tube that goes to the tray under the refrigerator. Hallelujah! the galvanized trough was rusted through and allowing water to drip into the refrigerator instead of the drain hose. I have not found the trough on any parts lists so he is patching it with putty.

Model TBX21KLK water pooling UNDER vegetable bins

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Freezer frosted, vegetable bin frozen i replaced mother board 2 weeks ago

you need to check your heater first unplug ref remove back panel in freezer section remove the wires from the heater and with an ohm meter check to see if you have continuity through heater if not you need to replace heater if so you need to check the defrost terminator located on the evaporator if this checks ok then you have a problem with the thermistor located at the bottom of the freezer just under the back panel

Water under vegetable bins, no water in drip pan under refrigerat

If this is a top mounted freezer the drain under the evaporator in the freezer section is iced up. You will need to take the back panel in the freezer off, to get to the evap. Defrost the ice with boiling water, then a heat probe will need to be attached to the defrost heater and down through the drain hole, There is a kit for this procedure.part # 819043
