Same thing. Will not boot up. States error and tries to restart. Does not get recognized on Sirius Studio, nor on USB. When I try to do a system reset (recommended by Sirius) it will not recognize unit and says to call Sirius. They can not help. 2 year old unit, past warranty.

Same exact problem with mine. I did get it on once, by reloading software, turning the unit on and off, taking out the usb cable, etc, suddenly it just turned on and was recognized by the computer... but I can't recreate this, and it's stuck once again in restart mode. Do you think a loose wire?

I have the same problem. I just now tried this and it worked.

Plug the usb cable into the sl 100. The computer did not recognize it. I then held down options and display for at least 5 second simultaneously. (sp?) and then it said Recovering please wait... then a screen came up on my computer screen asking if i wanted to use the siruis recovery program or take no action. I cliked recovery program and it is now deleting all data in memory including any scheduled recordings and installing new software. it is 50% done. I'll wait and let you know if I typed all of this for no reason!.................................................................60%.....................70%.............wow boring.........................80%...............95%...................ahhh **** there is two loading lines I'm back to 50%...........................60%............65%......75% ......... now the computer recognizes the sl 100 ............ very positive...................DONE I'll test it now....................It WORKED ...............Yeah.

I had to re-install Version 1.1 of My Sirius Studio from original CD that came with my Stilletto 100 as the most recent Version of My Sirius Studio did not recognize my Stilletto when I plugged the USB into my PC, when I re-installed Version 1.1 over the newer version, I shut down the Stilletto by holding down the power swith for 5 seconds then powered back up while holding down the Options and Display buttons at same time until the screen asked me to plug the USB cable into PC to recover. I did this and about 5 minutes later the the software/firmware was re-installed in my SL 100. I then plugged SL 100 into antenna and selected satellite radio, took about 1 minute to re-aquire the station ID's and Icons then I selected Sirius Hits 1 then everythings was back to normal, other than I lost all of my stored songs and recordings, but at least my SL 100 is operational again.

Try diff. USB port first

Go to hardware --> device manager and see if there is a yellow exclamation bu usb port - if there is, right click and update driver

otherwise:
These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

Do the 5 R's:

These are for Nano, but they apply to all iPods:

Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore

Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with your iPod nano. If

one of the following doesn’t help, read on for solutions to specific problems.

â Reset your iPod nano. See “General Suggestions,” below.

â Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod nano in iTunes.

â Restart your computer and make sure you have the latest software updates

installed.

â Reinstall iPod and iTunes software from the latest versions on the web.

â Restore your iPod nano. See “Updating and Restoring iPod Software” on page whatever.
