This particular error sticks it ugly face out when windows detects that a hard drive with the OS has lost its connection to the system.
That in plain english means that windows cannot initialize your hard drive, I assure you it has to do with windows xp and your system configuration. The simplest way to solve this would be to enter your bios setup and set your Sata mode to emulate an ATA drive.
What windows is doing is trying to look for drivers for your HDD it can't find them and therefore doesn't know how to get it workin so it stops. Go into your dell bios and in there you will see an option like this.
Sata/ATA - select this option for ATA emulation and therefore not drivers
Sata/AHCI - select this option for auto detect, normally the default, generally needs drivers, if there are disks configured for one of the raid modes, the system detects this.
Sata/RAID - select this option if you always have raid drives.
You want to select the very first one. If you for some reason can't do this or it doesn't work but it will. Then you will need a dell xp cd or have to create your own xp cd reinstall xp and include your third party raid drivers from dell's website.
