I have a dell latitude d610. The cdrw/dvd will not read discs. I do not receive any errors, you can just hear it speed up and slow down and then nothing. What can I try to fix it?

When such things happen it usually is as a result of the lens being weak. Weak lens are usually as a result of old age or improper use of the disk drive. First try running a lens cleaner on the device to clean the disk lens. if this does not work then it means the lens is bad and would need to be replaced. This can be carried out by any laptop repair technician.

You can check, and clean if needed the optical sensor in the DVD drive. It's visable when the drive is open. Beyond that, all you can do is replace the drive.

Can i install an AD-7530B DVD rom into a Dell Latitude D610?

I think you can because I think they have the same type of connection. You can read more about that here -

Aside from the type of connection, it depends on the shape as well.

Dell Latitude D610 dvd player won't work

Try a CD ROM lens cleaner. If it fails then I suggest you buy a new one. It is easy to change it: there is a release switch at the bottom with a screw. Open it and remove the old one. Slide the new one into its place.

Dell XPS 1300 Cd rom problem

This is a CD drive mechanical problem. All CD/DVD drives have built in error checking for mechanical failures. When you insert the CD/DVD, it tries to grab and seat the disc, then attempts to spin it up and then read it. If the grab and seat function fails for any reason, the drive will eject the tray so you can try again. You should contact Dell support and get the drive replaced. Has the drive ever worked? or did it just stop working one day?

This may be SpeedStep slowing the processor to save battery life. It speeds up when it is needed.
