Question about HP vs19 (Silver) 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Hp monitor vs19d

Are you still willing to fix them? I have one that we tried to fix without success and I all the caps were blown like you described. I just think we were inept. Care to give it a try?

I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

JJ,
If you want to give it to me, yes. if you want me to fix it and give it back to you, i'm not interested. But honestly, just give it another shot. make sure you are careful w/ your solder.

Problems with ON button, need multiple tries for success. Button lights up while trying, but screen stays black. I suspect the button connection. can this be checked out/fixed by user?

The start Capacitors are Blown. You are essentially building up enough current in the high voltage side to light the CCFL's. Eventually this method will fail to turn the unit on. You will have to open up the monitor and replace the defective Caps.

VS17 Monitor - power light only blinks, but monitor screen stays dark.

Look for bad caps in the power supply first.

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Vs19d monitor has power but screen is not coming on

You will need to open it and inspect the capacitors in the power supply first, hopefully it does not have bad lamps assembly like the one in my pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/HP%20VS19D/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

Will not turn on, There is power to the unit, it is like the switch doesn't work.

Hi,

There can be various reasons and different troubleshooting steps in a case when the monitor will not turn on:

Try tehsteps as guided below to ascertain and fix the issue:

My hp vs19d power button blinks on and off slowly. what does it mean? if i let the computer sit for say 3 hours the monitor will stay blank. even after moving the mouse to wake things up

the monitor is in sleep mode ... have you tried hitting the keyboard Space bar?

if you disconnect the video cable from the pc does it display ( video disconnected) ? if it does it then is probably the sleep issue

My HP vs 19 desktop monitor is on, but the screen is blank. It flashes on for less than a second when I turn the monitor off, and then back on -- but then goes blank. What is the solution?

If you are handy at fixing things.

Here is a link of how to fix your monitor. I had the same problem, and found this link, followed the instructions and it cost me $5.13
to fix my HP vs19 LCD monitor, and its still working great.

Don't drag out your soldering gun these are too high wattage and will melt the board. Use a 40 to 25 watt soldering iron.
