i just bought an xbox 360 harddrive.. the 20 GB one. And it doesn't work. It makes a very high pitched grinding noise. Can I return it if its already open?

Hey eclipser221,
As long as you have your original store receipt and are within the 30-day return period, you should be able to return the defective hard drive to any Best Buy™ store. The box itself does not have to be factory-sealed to process an exchange, but you will need to have with you all of the components that were included in the box at the time of sale (cables, mounting brackets, warranty information, etc.).
Hope this helps you out.
Sincerely,
Aaron
