Bought a second hand laptop,acer aspire 9301 from a friend ,and cannot find out what the bios password is . Please can you help me.

try to enter on bios and do not enter any password just press enter 5 times and restart

Locate and download a program called "OPHCRACK"

Insert disc and restart computer:

Set your bios to start from the CD:


Just press F8 or whatever the screen says for the BIOS settings and/or options..
Set the boot option order to CD first rather than second or third.

The program will run and it will start to recover the passwords(s)

What you need to do is Flash the BIOS.

With this utility you should be able to FLASH BIOS to factory default and enter BIOS without password. Be extremely careful to follow the steps exactly, because one false move and your system could be rendered useless.

press either delete or f2 during the boot process to enter the BIOS you can chage your password from there (be careful)

A friend of mine said you have to take out the cmos battery, and short the terminals for about 30 seconds to clear the password. That's all I know, hope it helps.

It sounds to me like it was set by someone other than yourself. There is no legal way to reset the BIOS password. You can contact the person who set it, call Acer for service, or if you bought this from someone, return it.
If you set it, try to remember what it was.

the only way to reset the bios is to open the bottom case of the laptop short circuit the bios by moving the bios jumper pin to 2-3 or removing the litium battery for a second, it will reset the date time and password
