Make sure you are signed on to use the machine. It sounds like no clerk has been signed on. The log on is different between models so I wouldn't know for this machine. If you still have trouble, see the other post for the site with the manual.

I've searched online for any similar problems and it seems that there's not a lot on the net for a CL error. Most were printer related.
Just by seing things from a logical perspective, this error may be a tray issue, so try opening and closing the cash tray and see if this remedies the problem. If you can unplug the register from the power cord, do so and see if this helps. Try the unplugging with a closed and an opened tray.
I'm not a cash register expert so this is just guesswork. Hope it helps.
