It depends on the model of your handycam as to how you would download videos to your computer. Some handycams download using a handycam station and others can do it via USB from its a/v or USB jack. Here is a link to a USB for most handycams:

USB Cable for Sony Handycams

This is a USB that connects via the camcorders A/V port. You will have to check the specific product manual for compatibility.

Can you please tell me why when i try to import vidoes using picture motion browsing i am getting the message Cannot find source media for importing,

You might be connecting the Camcorder using USB interface. Picture Motion Browser Cannot be used for transferring videos from tape camcorder (mini DV in your case) using USB interface..

Operating System also matters..

If you're using XP OS, you can install the driver from supplied CD and use Windows Movie Maker to transfer the recordings using USB interface.

Vista, Windows 7 - You need to use i.LINK or A/V interface to transfer the recording. When using i.LINK with Vista, you can use the Picture Motion Browser software.

I think this will definitely help you to connect the Camcorder..

Can not locate the driver for the sonyL15a digital handycam dv

General Information:
I understand that you're trying to transfer the videos from the Camcorder to the Computer using the USB Cable.

The USB Streaming of this Camcorder is not compatible with the Vista and Windows 7 Operating Systems.

However, you can transfer the videos to the Computer using the i.LINK(Firewire) cable or A/V Cable.

I am unable to connect my Panasonic PV GS150 handycam and Vista business edition running laptop using a USB cable. Do I need driver S/W?

You will need to install the USB driver from your software(disc) to your vista.

and make sure the computer is recognizing your camera, check under control panel and device managers list if your product is listed under imaging devices, but chances are you might be having compatibility issues since it doesnt have an updater for Vista, hope this help. pls dont forget to rate. Thanks!!
