Question about Computers & Internet

How do I connect 3 wireless routers to make one network

I have 3 wireless routers aquired through different service providers when I've signed up for their services.

1. Netgear DG834GT
2. Siemens Gigaset SE587 WLAN dsl
3. Thomson Speedtouch ST585 v6

I don't have the money to buy new products so I'm trying to connect my upstairs computer, wired to the Netgear, to my phone line which is downstairs. I also want to connect my XBox360 which is in another room.

I am unable to rewire or extend the phone point nor hardwire the routers.
I had the idea of connecting:
- the Siemens with its dsl plugged into the phoneline (downstairs)
- my computer with the Netgear (upstairs)
- the Thomson Speedtouch as a bridge connected to my Xbox360

I've been able to set up the Siemens so that it automatically connects to the internet when turned on.
I have disabled security on the routers to enable connection without this added pitfall (but I think I understand the security setup)
I get confused at all the different methods I've read about for getting them to talk to each other
I've also tried :-
1.
- using the same SSID and channel number for each router
- configuring the IP addresses to appear in the same range
- turning on WDS
2.
- using same SSID with different channel number
3.
- Using different SSID with different channel number (?)
4.
- using different SSID with the same channel number
5.
- entering the IP and Mac addresses as Static IP routes

but really i'm just shooting in the dark to see what happens and I've had no success so far.
I credit myself with the ability to read and understand as much as I can but I don't have the background in this field and I've come unstuck.
If I hardwire all the devices together they see each other but this is not a possible solution for anything other than testing
My questions is :
- Is it possible to connect wirelessly these devices so My computer (Netgear) and my Xbox (Thomson) can access the internet (it'd be cool if they could connect to each other but not necessary) through the Siemens connected to the broadband phoneline

Many thanks in advance for any help.

I really appreciate your time in finding out this answer.

However, I've tried this approach with the routers in question. I can get the Siemens and the thompson to see each other but they won't enable the use of the internet though them. I've read up on networking to see if that would enlighten me and I think that these devices aren't meant to behave in this way and I'm trying to force them to. I think my eventual solution will be to spend out on client cards or use a bridge.

I just figured out how to do this with two. You need to connect just your secondary router to the PC and change it's IP address to ".2" at the end instead of ".1" Then you need to turn off DHCP on that router. The SSID should be the same on both. When you connect them and they have different IP addresses, the main router with DHCP turned on will interact with the other router that has DHCP turned off. They need to have different IP addresses, the same SSID, and only one with DHCP enabled.
I am not a networking pro, but figured this out by searching online. Good luck.

First you need to decide what type of broadband and Internet service you require and these are -
1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line.
2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service.
3. A wireless 3G network uses the mobile/cell phone network and can be separate or combine with your cell phone account. This type of Internet connection uses an USB wireless device shaped like an USB memory stick.
Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include a modem/wireless router.

If you use a wireless router with the DSL or Cable Internet service then your laptop with a wireless card can then connect to the Internet. You can also connect to a free WiFi hot spots like McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc. using the wireless card in your laptop.
If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access the Internet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to check the service coverage area where you need Internet service.
Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to check with the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and the cost of the various plans.
Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed the monthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installation CD.

My EA nation connection keeps crashing

f this issue has been ongoing, I would recommend troubleshooting the network connection.
Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take for the network:
* Disable your Media Server Connection under [Settings] [Network Settings] [Media Server Connection].
* Power cycle your network devices. Leave both your modem and router unplugged without power for at least a full two minutes.

After you power cycle, attempt to reconnect to your network with the following steps:
* Select [Settings] > [Network Settings] > [Internet Connection Settings].
* Choose [Easy] set up, and then [Wireless Network].
* [Scan] for your network, then select your network from the list.
* Press right once you see your network's ID, then ensure that the proper security type is highlighted. Press right again, and then enter your network security key.
* Press X to save your settings, and then X again to test if your connection is now working.

* Try positioning your PlayStation3 system closer to the wireless router to enhance the wireless signal.
* Try updating your router or modem firmware through your computer.
* If your router has a MAC address filter, please add the MAC address of your PlayStation3 to the accepted list. Your MAC address can be found at [Settings] > [System Settings] > [System Information].
* You may need to open ports on your router. I've included a link to the port information below, you will need to contact your router manufacturer for support with opening the ports for game play:

Firewall Port Numbers to Play Games Online
Article Link: http://playstation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/241

* You may need to connect the PlayStation 3 system directly to your router via an Ethernet cable to increase the signal strength.
* Finally, try connecting your PlayStation 3 to the Internet in a different network environment (such as a friend's house) to see if you receive better results. If you do, the problem lies with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or router manufacturer.

I just signed up with at&t for wireless service and my connection keeps dropping after a couple of minutes. i have a MN-500 router and DSL service. as long as i only have my Dell PC connected directly...

Hi... If your running on XP, try theses simple steps:

1. Right-click the wireless icon on the taskbar (lower 2. Left-hand corner near time) and View available networks.

3. Left-click the "change advance settings"

4. A windows should pop up... now go to wireless tab and tick or bullet point "Let windows manage wireless connections"

5. Then click apply. Then try to connect to your wireles router again.

If the wireless tab doesn't appear, the click start and Run then type services.msc then click OK.

Double-click Wireless zero configuration and set it to automatic then press apply and click start to start the service. Then try to do the instructions again.

If you're running on Vista, disable the wireless software provided by your wireless card manufacturer to enable windows to manage wireless networks. Then try to connect to your router again.

Hope it helps!

Linksys router connects and says it has an excellent signal but will not aquire an address please help

Try a hardwire computer and get into the setup page of the router by typing 192.168.1.1 on your browser . Make sure you have changed the SSID or the network name of your router to your choice. Check if you have security set. If you have one make sure they match your computer.

Wireless internet on laptop

You need an external WIRELESS ROUTER or MODEM ( provided by AT&T ). After this AT&T router configuration you needs to do configuration at your laptop using CONNECTION SETUP wizard for Wireless Networks & Devices.
Then you can set IP addresses & then you will be connected to it. I hope above steps will help you.

Laptop can't aquire IP address

This sounds to be a compatibility issue with either the wireless software or wireless card. Check to see if there are any updated drivers for the wireless card at IBM's support site. If there aren't any or the card still doesn't work after the updated drivers are installed, then you might try a different/newer internal wireless card, or a universal external wireless card for use with your home system.
