Question about Canon PowerShot SD750 / IXUS 75 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Flash is not working

Camera got wet and was left to dry out. For several days there appeared to be moistures inside the lens but the electronics and picture display worked fine.
Now everything seems to work except the flash and I cann't get the camera to flash. Any thoughts. Could the flash bulb have shorted out or is it more apt to be a software problem.

Check and snug tighten all the screws around the perimeter of the case. Canon digital elphs use some of the case screws as a safety switch to turn off the flash if missing (thus preventing electrical shock from the flash if the case is opened). If this doesn't correct the problem, then you may be experiencing more severe internal corrosion problems that you cannot fix yourself.

Wet digital camera

I have had a camera do this before and I left it in a bowl rice for about a week. Then it turned right on. Since rice will absorb the moisture we cant find or see. But I would make sure to take it apart as much as possible. :) Hope that works. GL

It says on my screen LENS ERROR RESTART CAMERA but it will not.

Hi! just a tip, please dont turn on the camera, let it dry for some time. Turning on the camera while it is still wet may cause short circuit. Hope this helps

I got my camera wet. After drying it as thoroughly

That's not the way to dry out a camera. The electronics need at least a week to dry out. You should have buried it in a bowl of dry rice and left it alone. Just turning it on while moisture is inside will short out the circuits.

My camera got wet in the snow and it comes on but

Ok, you just might be able to safe this device, but, there is a possibillity that yoou need to send the camera in so that the dried damp on the inside of the lens itself can be removed.

This is something that i suggest that you do not try yourself, as the disassembley of the lens is a very complicated task.

If the damp inside the lens is still wet, put the camera in a sealed container with about 3 cups of rice. Leave it in the sealed container for about 3 days.

If this does not work, the water damp is already dried, thus, the lens itself needs to be disassembled. This will cost about $40 to repair.

Hope this can be of help.

Kind regards

D80-viewer and display stay black, the flash

If your camera got moisture inside and you turned it on before it had a chance to completely dry (usually takes several days) you may have caused a short circuit.

It got wet

It might not be able to work again depending on the extent of damage incurred. The most important thing to remember about any wet electrical/electronic device is to NEVER turn it on while there is still moisture present. It must be totally dry inside and out before turning it on. This may take several days or longer depending on ambient temperature and humidity.

Water has been spilt on my panasonic fx 500 camera. The lense is still foggy after 4 hours. Is there anything i can do? It has been outside for hours

Remove battery and memory.
Find a zip lock poly bag that will hold the camera and a cloth or paper back containing salt or rice or flour
put both in the bag put in a warm place and leave for several days.
The contents of the cloth/paper bag should draw moisture out.

However if the camera has been switched on whilst in its wet state
it is probably irrepairable.
