I have a brand new Fridge (I moved in on 9/20/08). No ice. I can hear it trying to make it, but nothing.

The ice maker is making a weird light "roaring" type sound and no ice is coming out. It's been doing this for about 2 days now and the sound is getting louder.

The ice maker will make cubes for a while then stop. Is there a reset switch or defrost problem.

Whirlpool mod#ED5FHEXNB00 isn't making ice

Freezer temp has to be below 10 degrees for ice maker to work. Also check to see if water/ice is in the tray. If no ice in tray then the water solenoid valve is not feeding the unit. If ice in tray then the heater is not working to melt the ice a bit so it can be scooped out into the ice tray. And make sure the feeler arm is down into the ice tray bin - if not, ice maker is shut off.

Ice Maker bar won't come down

I have not worked on this model before but on the whirlpool they have a bar as well. you can turn off ice maker by pushing it up and it locks in place to stop ice production. if u want it to make ice u push it up slightly and it should move down. also check the ice maker tray to be sure u are getting water to the tray. if u get the bar to go down and no water comes in then check that u have water at the back of fridge.. if u have water there but not in the tray then you may have a bad water inlet valve on back of fridge.

Ice maker is not dropping ice

there are 2 things that could be problem, 1 is a heater element that heats the bottom of frozen cubes slightly to allow the cubes to be pushed out into the tray by plastic fingers under the cubes and controlled by a motor. best bet would be to get model number of fridge and/or ice maker and look for direct replacement online. There is a company out of Chicago that offers replacements for lots of models. Sorry I dont have their name, but google the results for ice maker for your make/model fridge.

Whirlpool ice maker not working

Ice makers are some of the most worked part of a refrigerator and have about a five year lifespan. There are just too many things that can go wrong that can stop the ice making process. To explain the process of a Whirlpool ice maker I am going to post a Whirlpool Ice Maker Troubling pdf and a short YouTube Icemaker Repair toutorial. If you have any questions I will be here to assist you, Thanks Sea Breeze

Not making ice, checked optics ,good ,water valve coil tested good, no restrictionsbut i get no water in tray, also freezer temp is 8 degrees.

OK you mentioned the ice maker had no cubes or not making cubes, try filling tray with water from tap. Let freeze and if the ice drops into ice bin the ice maker is OK. Most times the ice maker thermostat is at fault (pt. 27 in photo) if not cycling. Read OHM's between both coils and they should be very near to same reading, if not replace water control valve=> 4389177 by applying first 120VAC to see if valve opens. If water goes into ice maker this way or OHMs between the two are nearly the same your Ice Maker=>2198597 Ice Maker Assembly may need replaced. Let me know how your ice or water turns out, Thanks Sea Breeze

Ice maker does not extract ice cube's to the pan

Take a short piece of #14 insulated wire and strip both ends about 1 inch. Bend the wire into a "U" shape. Insert the stripped ends into terminals "T" and "H" inside the ice maker cover. The gear should start to move. After the gear has moved 1/4 turn, remove the jumper wire.If the heater and thermostat are good it will drop ice and refill. If not it will stall.
If the motor does not move at all or the motor stalls, replace the ice maker.

Ice Maker not working

Get me the model number. Put tap water in ice maker tray and make sure arm is down. Let it freeze. Wait and see if the ice will drop, this should allow water to come into the ice maker for another run. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Ice maker not working

Depending on the ice maker style, they typically work off a motor timer. The timer motor rotates to set up the ice making process... starting with letting water into an empty ice mold tray, allowing ample time for that water to freeze and then to rotate that mold so that the cubes fall out into the bin. In conjunction with that process, a small heater is turned on to release the frozen cubes from the tray. The 'ice tray full' lever signals the system to stop making ice so you may want to verify that the lever is down and not causing the ice maker to stop, If that's down then I suggest you monitor the position of the motor gearset underneath an access cover. With power applied, the gears should rotate and cycle thru an ice making process. If it does and ice fails to fall out, your heater may be defective. Hope that helps...
