Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

We have a Fedders Model 080N2D furnace which the blower will not come on in auto or just come on. Where would we even find a manual on this old furnace? or how do we troubleshoot to see where the power problem is?

SOURCE: Coleman mobile home furnace Model

I had a similier problem, Check your neutral ground? also alot of power companies will come out and do a basic check of the voltages going to the furnace, and can offer advice for free.

My Goodman Furnace Model GMS9 circulator blower makes rumbling noise. It sounds like something is not inline and I can feel it even when i'm sitting upstair too.

It sounds like bad bearings inside the motor, or an off balance blower wheel. When you say circulating blower are you talking about the main blower, or the IDM (smaller motor in the top cabinet)??

I have a goodman furnace model number gms80904bncc. When the temperature in house is met the blower continues to blow. Even if I put the thermstat in off mode the blower is still on

Hi #1 check thermostat : see if the FAN ON/AUTO switch is set to( auto ) and not( on)...If this is not the case turn the furnace switch off for 20 sec. and back on...did it stop? IF so the blower relay is sticking and must be replaced.
AUTO=BLOWER ON DEMAND/CYCLING
ON=BLOWER 24/7 all the time..
hope this helps

Blower fan running constant after new fan and limit switch installed.more info.Honeywell-tradeline.L4064B 2210, combination fan and limit control, adjustable fan differential with manual fan switch, flush...

Here's my best shot.
Check the temperature settings for the fan switch.
The low OFF setting should be about 100 degrees.
The ON setting should be around 150 degrees and this is the setting that "makes" the ON contacts.
The HIGH LIMIT setting should be about 180 degrees.
If these are set, can you use a meter to see if the FAN ON contacts are closed?
Lastly, it appears that one hot line should go to one side of the blower and the other hot line should go to the bottom FAN terminal with the other side of the blower being fed by wiring from the top FAN terminal.
Good Luck. Gary

Flame comes on in burner. Fan in auto does not come on , Fan in manual does. I figure the switch to tell the fan the box is hot is bad ?

Ken,
First of all what kind of furnace is this?? always post model and Manufacturer of furnace. This helps us techs. narrow the problems down ok. Next, It sounds to me like maybe the blower motor itself might have a bad winding it it, or not coming on in the heat mode. This is because when in heat mode the blower is in a different speed, and when you switch the auto/on sw on the t-stat it switches the blower to usually the high speed winding or (cool) speed which is usually the black wire on the blower motor. the heat speed is usually the red or orange wire slower speed for heat. check these first then you may have to go back to the furnace control board. and check if it is sending voltage to the fan motor itself.. hope this helps..

Have a model 3500A820 furnace that heats but blower doesn't come on. Shouldn't elements go off in this case. Really over heated, scary!

Turn the blower to manual on at thermostat if you can.

Most electric furnaces have a overtemp switch to shut off the elements. If it is auto reset then it could be shutting off and you would not know it.

If its a manual reset it should shut everything down,
its possible that it is not sensing the plenum temp.
If you can trace your blower wires and it is multispeed,if you can see which wire is tied in with
the heat circuit, change it with another wire, it is
possible that you may have a burnt out speed on blower motor

Our Fedders AirHandler Model#A24C1X keep 1 strip of heat when blower or nothing is on. have to unplug the red wire from NC on blower delay relay to stop it. blower relay Bd is new

Most of the time on Fedders unit one speed for heat comes off sequencer. This a low speed for heat. You may have bad sequencer. If your knowledge is limited about furnaces you may ahve to call service tech. But if you have some knowledge Replace the sequencer and follow woring diagram and you will be ok. Should solve problem. This time of year I replace dozens of sequencers due to this same problem. Rus

The furnace send signal to the fan in about 30 seconds, now this fan is set in auto from my termostat, my problem is the fan is starting slowly and some time it don't start, but if I use the option manual...

Depending on the model of the furnace, the blower is either a 2 or 3 speed. When the furnace operates in heating mode with the thermostat in the auto position, the furnace starts the fan when the furnace reaches a specific temperature or after a set time delay, but it operates the fan in low or med low speed on heat mode, when you put the thermostat fan switch in the "ON" position, the furnace operates the fan in "HI" speed, the same speed used for cooling mode. You may have a blower moter that is starting to short. I would recommend having a professional replace the motor before now before it becomes an emergency in the middle of the night during a cold spell.

My AC unit wont blow the cold air.

if the ac outside is working, but not the furnace, means there is a control problem with the furnace, check wires in the furnace, make sure there is a blower wire plugged into the contact marked cool on the control panel of the furnace
