Question about Maytag Legacy Series Top Load Washer
Hi - I am soooo happy to have found your reply :) 'We have a top loading Maytag washer that screams on the spin cyle - along with the clackity noise the other member mentioned. I was so excited and ran to my husband to relay what you had said about the coupler and he just looked at me and asked if I could please point out where exactly that is. He's an accomplished mechanic and we've nicknamed him MacGyver, but I think he 's stumped. Would you be willing to email me or reply with just general directions to where the coupler is located?? We would be eternally grateful for any help :)
I hate to be the bearer of bad news for you but your maytag washer will not have a motor to transmision coupling. That is only on whirlpool brand and some kenmore brands that are made by whirlpool. Your maytag will have a belt and if it is making a loud sound while spinning your bearing has most likely gotten wet and rusted. That is caused by having a leak in the tub seal and the water getting onto the bearing. This is a major repair and I really do not recommend the average handyman try to do this job. But if McGyver wants to try I will be happy to send along any information about parts and instructions. Just send me the model number and I will let you know what you will need. I really hope this will help and again, sorry for the bad news. Lots of luck.
