Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Interference Lines My Mitsubishi WD-52525 has Grey (clear) lines appear when I have an input plugged into the TV and that input device (DVD player) is turned on. With the DVD off the blue screen shown is flawless. With my cable box the picture appears better with the understanding that regular definition cable looks pretty bad. I don't notice the lines on regular definition cable but on some of my HD sources the lines come back but are very close together. Perhaps this is the difference in resoluion. I'm tempted to try my HDMI input to see if that makes a difference as I'm solely using component connections now. Here are the steps I've tried so far: 1. Tried another set of component cables 2. Swapped with another DVD player 3. Unplugged EVERY device from my entertainment system including power cords with the exception of the DVD and TV. A friend thought it might be interference from my cable TV. 4. Tried a different power strip (current powerstrip is a Moster Power Powerbar 1100 with Clean Power Filtering) 5. Ran power from a different circuit in the house with an extension cord. 6. Replaced the lamp (the replace light was on anyway) Any tips are certainly appreciated but it seems the typical solution for most television problems is that it's *almost* cheaper to buy a new television than it is to repair the one you have. I'm fairly tempted after paying $4,000 for this TV 4 years ago to sell it for scrap parts and buy a 47" VISIO TV from Costco and be done. I've always hated how rediculiously loud the television fan is. When I bought it I was assured this problem had been addressed by Mitsubishi which is why I had to wait so long for it. My days of being an early adopter of technology are over after this purchase. Sorry for the rant.

I've swapped between the two different component inputs 1 & 2 but I'm using both component inputs for both my cable box and DVD player.

I have not tried the s-video or rca inputs. I have also not tried the HDMI input.

I have the same issue on my WD52525. It appears on any inputs to my tv, except HDMI. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a cause or solution.

My picture has veritical lines all through it.

Change the input to something else...like a DVD. Is it still there? If not, you have a signal problem either outside the tv..or perhaps a bad tuner. Do you have a computer near the tv? Or other high tech device near the unit? Try turning off any hi-tech devices in the house and check to be sure the connections are good to the tv and/or cable or satellite box.

yes if the lines are on all inputs and also on the menu of the set itself then you may want to test your 5 volt power supply on plug j19 of the lite engine.this does require removing the back of set along w/the back shield, about 30 screws.good luck joe tv

Static picture or flashing colors pictures wd-52525

HEY AWOOD,THIS SYMPTOM IS DUE TO POWER CAPACITORS GOING BAD IN THE POWER SUPPLY AND THESE CAPS CAN CAUSE A COUPLE DIFFERENT SYMPTOMS,YOURS SEEMS TO BE THE MOST COMMON.IF YOU'RE TECHY ENOUGH YOU CAN REMOVE THE BACK AND GET ACCESS TO THE TWO PLUGS ON THE LITE ENGINE TO TEST (WITH A VOLTMETER) THE 5 VOLT SUPPLY ON I BELIEVE PLUG J19 PINS 1 AND 3.IF LOW THEN REPLACE 6 CAPACITORS ON POWER BD. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE IF THEY ARE BAD JUST BY A VISUAL INSPECTION.GOOD LUCK JOE TV
