Coloured vertical lines on screen

Hello, I have the coloured vertical lines problem with my unit. You indicate that you have access to Sony documents. I read somewhere else that Sony bulletin #E26980221 may address this issue. Would you be able to get a copy of it and send it to me? Anyhelp on my problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have the same problem. Any solution for accessing Sony document #E26980221? Will Sony cover the cost or address the issue? Would love any feedback.

    Thanks,

    Linda

I have the same problem and had a Sony repair man come to my home. He diagnosed the problem as a bad "q-box". This part is a $800 part. I am going to try and replace it myself and I was wondering/hoping that there is no software involved when swaping out a "q-box".

Sony takes cores back for two reasons. First, the reason you stated, to rebuild and return them to the repair parts pool. Second is for fault evaluation, so that they can determine what is failing and why, in hopes that they can improve quality. I have my arguments and issues with Sony, but they back their product better than any other big screen maker and by far have the best customer support.

In all cases it sounds like you have bad Q-boxes. Unfortunately, regarding the bulletin, Sony is not covering any parts or labor for this repair. You can try contacting Sony customer service to see if they will offer any assistance. There is no software programming involved in the Q-box replacement, however it is not an easy job and some of the connecting cables are easily damaged. You can attempt the repair yourself if you are determined, but I would recommend you have a professional do the job.

I ended up buying a new Q Box and swapping it out myself. I also got a credit for the old core which leads me to believe that there is a design problem with these units and Sony is taking the defective units back and repairing them. I paid for a brand new unit but close observation indicated that it was not new. The inspection date on it was 6 months previous to the bad unit that I exchanged and there was evidence of dust and dirt on it also. It also had score markings from the ground wire and the mounting screws. If anyone has a repair guy do the fix, they wouldn't know the difference if they paid for a new Q Box or a repaired one.

Buy the way, the TV works great now. I have lost my faith in Sony products and will never buy another one.

My lg32lc56 LCD TV when switched on, the screen shows coloured lines only. No picture. What is the problem?

Lg is not a cheap brand. You could have a bad tcon board or a bad main digital board. If you see spider web lines then your screen is broken. As far as Japanese brands I've seen more Sony tv's with design flaws and produced with just crap parts than any other brand out there.

Other than taking the television to a repair shop not much can be done. I recommend a new television. Excellent brands are Sony, and Samsung. Both brands are quality televisions. Best of all you can order them on Amazon.com for lower prices.

Vertical screen lines

Hello,

I suggest that you check the connection of the motherboard and your computer's screen because it has something to do with it. Or if resetting the connection won't do anything then I suggest that you let a tech check it.

Hi,
Unfortunately the vertical colored lines usually indicates the lcd panel is faulty. Replacing that part is usually more expensive than just replacing the TV. If you want to try a fix there is a multi wired cable that plugs into the panel. there is a slim chance that reseatting cable on both ends could help.
