I had the same problem and HP has been very helpful,
try calling this number 877-917-4380 ext. 79 and be firm tell them this
needs to be fixed. They are sending my second replacement part and said
they will keep sending parts till it works, this tv is almost 3 years old.

to update this issue, HP has now agreed to replace my plasma free of
charge, they dont know how to fix it and after a couple of tries they
gave up and I'll get my new one next Friday. For all of those trying ,
keep trying and don't give up, don't take no for an answer.

an Update here, My new plasma arrived on Monday free of charge, no
shipping, no money at all, works like it did when new. Call HP with the
number listed and let them have a piece of your mind, you will get
results.
I just brought my kf-42we610 sony authorized service-tv went black would not turn on-I was infromed Sony knows about problem with the fan in back -gets way to hot and basically melts everything-they are fixing free of charge until march of 09
inside the round bit there is a bolt its very tight but you will have to dissasemble to get to it apart from the obvios ones there are 4 hidden behind rubber covers on the sides and then th fron frame unclips this i difficult to start off but by the power button on the side there is a square lump of plastic sticking out place a flat head skrewdriver between this and the front lip and gently twist and the first clip wil come undone and from there you can get the rest good luck
