Hi there. i am on my 8th or so elph camera (sd1000, this time)
on this and all of of my former elph cameras, i can't download large videos (3min+) into my iphoto (mac's photo tool) for some reason. all of the other pictures and movies will come off the camera, but the really big files won't. anyone? i hope so! i have amazing footage of my daughter that i can't live without. any help is greatly appreciated.
I found the answer to my own question above and thought i'd share.
rather than iphoto, you can use "image capture," which is software that comes standard with the mac.
-Turn on your camera, and connect it to your computer with the cable that came with it.
-Close iPhoto if it opens automatically. Open Image Capture (Applications folder).
-Click Download Some to choose specific items to transfer, or click Download All to transfer all items.
If you click Download Some, choose the items to transfer, and click Download.
By default, Image Capture transfers still images to your Pictures
folder, video files to your Movies folder, and music files to your
Music folder. To choose another folder, choose Other from the Download
To pop-up menu, then click Download Some or Download All.

iphoto v6.0.6 will not download video files from my canon powershot sd 1100. i know the video files exist because i can watch them on the camera and can download using a (borrowed) card reader, but i'd like to be able to pull them directly off the camera into iphoto. my mac is running osx v10.4.11.
I have the same exactly problem but different OS. I'm trying also to get 2 really long videos of my daughter off my card. I have Windows XP, SP2, have a Canon Powershot SD750. I never have any problems with videos, but two long ones (each over 1 gb) will result in errors in Adobe Photo Album when I tried to download. When I manually copy the files from my camera to the computer they copy, but show up as 0kb (and they obviously have no data and don't play).
Any comparable suggestions for the Windows folks out there?
