We have the tv connected to a Cox Cable box. We have hit something on the remote (we think) and the tv picture cuts all the heads off. The guide that comes on the bottom of the screen when you change channels is not at the bottom of the screen. I have tried everything I know - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Use your cable or satellite tv remote to adjust the aspect ratio. If you have cable there is a button on the remote called hd zoom and it has this symbol: #. On the satellite tv remotes it usually says format or aspect. You might even have to go into the cable box/satellite tv receiver menus to adjust the aspect ratio/picture format. Once you have done so you can fine tune the picture even further with the television remote's wide/format/aspect/zoom button. Also check and make sure your television is on the right input and that your cable box/satellite tv receiver is set at the right resolution for the television 1080p/1080i/720p.
Have you tried hitting the format picture button on your remote control. Seems the picture is in zoom mode. If you have a cable box for HD Channels then look on the remote for a button (format) or Screen size.
If it is a square box, it is usually a text box. It can be fixed by turning closed captioning off. Either hit the CC button on the remote until off appears. Or go in to the menu find closed captioning or text and turn off. If it is not a defined box, it could be something inside the tv.
I removed coxail cable from the tv and connected 3 rca cables between tv and cablebox, now have picture and sound. The problem is still there ,something has blocked out my internal cable connection.
get a new cable. the connector on the cable is bad.
the center pin of the cable connector is the signal carrier, and the outer jacket is the ground. so if wiggle the cable and the cable and the pic become clear, then it is definitely is the cable.
Either the TV or the cable/satellite receiver has Zoomed in to the image when parts of the picture are cut off. Look at both remotes for a Zoom feature or the onscreen menu's for any settings. Usually TV settings don't change on their own but cable/satellite receivers can receive updates and it may need to be reset afterwords, much like a PC.
If the television is connected to a cable box such as Time Warner's HD box, the picture mode can be changed by pressing the '#' on the cable box's remote keypad (where the channel numbers are). This cycles the picture between zoom, normal, and stretch which could be cause of your problem.
