  1. Pry open the plastic key fob with a flat-head screwdriver.
  2. Remove the back of the key fob and set it aside.
  3. Hold the front half of the key fob in your hand; turn it over so the rubber buttons touch your palm.
  4. Use your finger to gently pry the circuit board from the back of the panic button; set the circuit board aside.
  5. Stick a piece of tape over the metal connectors on the back of the panic button.
  6. Replace the circuit board, which should now rest on top of the tape.
  7. Replace the backing of the key fob and press down to snap it into place.

Hope this helped.

I lost keys to my 97 expedition I got a new ignition and new keys how do I program the keys to work with the pats system

To program new keys to work with the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) on a 1997 Ford Expedition, you will need to have two working programmed keys available. If you do not have any working keys, you will need to have the PATS module reprogrammed by a Ford dealership or a locksmith that specializes in Ford vehicles.
Once you have two working keys, here are the steps to program new keys to the PATS system:
  1. Insert the first working key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position (do not start the engine).
  2. Within 5 seconds, insert the second working key and turn it to the "On" position.
  3. Within 10 seconds of inserting the second key, turn both keys to the "Off" position.
  4. Remove both keys from the ignition.
  5. Insert the new key you want to program into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position.
  6. Within 10 seconds, turn the key to the "Off" position and remove it from the ignition.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for any additional new keys you want to program.
The PATS system should now recognize the new key and it should be able to start the engine. If the new key does not work, please consult with an Ford Dealer or Automotive Locksmith to assist you with the programming.

What is meant by valid sentry keys

Beginning in 1998, selected Chrysler products began rolling off the assembly lines with a new advanced security system known as the Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS). Most WJ Grand Cherokees are equipped with this feature. When you attempt to start a vehicle with this feature, the onboard computer sends out a RF signal that is read up by the electronic transponder chip embedded in the key. The transponder then returns a unique signal back to the vehicle's computer, giving it the ok for the vehicle to start and continue to run. This all happens in under a second, and is completely transparent to the vehicle driver. For additional security, two pre-programmed keys are needed in order to register additional keys into the system. In the event of the loss of all keys, special programming equipment is needed to register new keys into the system.
It is highly recommended that you get a spare third key made and programmed for your Jeep. It's a good idea to do this while you still have your two original keys. If you were to ever lose one of those keys, it's a lot more costlier to have a replacement made as you must go to the dealer or a specialty locksmith to have the programming done. With your own pair of original keys, you can easily program a new key yourself.
The Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) can be programmed to recognize up to a total of eight Sentry Keys. There are two possible methods to program the SKIM to recognize a new or additional valid key, the Customer Learn Method and the dealer-performed Secured Access Method. The Customer Learn programming feature is available only on U.S. vehicles and is detailed below. Note that once a Sentry Key has been programmed as a valid key to a given vehicle, it cannot be programmed as a valid key for use on any other vehicle.

I lost my keys for my 2003 rodeo

you will have to get a dealer to cut new keys to code that dealers have access to and then get them to program to car but also erase old keys so vehicle wont start with old keys
or next more expensive option is new keys, ignition barrel and door barrels replaced which are differently same coded key and locks as well as programming and erasing old keys.
