Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

New first assembly. Brother MFC 7220. Unable to enter the drum unit assembly. Slides in but does not bottom in the unit. I am replacing a MFC 4550 which that drum unit slides in like a drawer. This feels like something is blocking the entry and I do not want to force it. It needs about 8mm futher penetration. I used a flashlight and see no foreign objects. What do I do next? I am a Prof. Eng. and reasonably adept but am missing something. Help! Ron birchard

Why would I pay to start a new product? I solved the problem by forcing it into the receptical. It seems to be a poor fit but it now works

I recommend replacing the drum unit with a new one. Do not forget to follow the instructions on programming the unit to recognize the new drum unit. Otherwise you will still be faced with the message to replace your drum unit.

Need new drum for brother mfc-7220 all in one. Not even 1 year old. Is there something I can repair or fix instead of replacing the drum for about $100+ ?

If the print quality is still good, just reset the drum counter. Open the front door, press OPTION, press 1, close front door.

I have a Brother MFC 7220 printer. When printing, there is an almost indelible, yet noticeable line down the left-center of the page. How do I get rid of it? In short, how do I clean the Brother MFC...

This could be the result of several problems. The quickest, cheapest, and easiest thing to try is to clean the "corona wire". This is done by removing the drum/toner unit. On the drum unit (the big grey cradle) is a blue tab with an arrow on it. Slide this back and forth twice, being sure that the two arrows line up when you are done. Put it back in the machine, and make a copy or print from your computer to test the quality. If this does not solve the problem, you may need a new drum (every 12,000 pages) or a new toner cartridge (about every 2,500 pages).

Brother MFC6800-says change drum soon - is that hard to do?

yes anyone can do this, the drum is the unit the toner fits into, remove as though you were removing the toner cartridge, that the toner all the way out of the drum unit and install the old toner in the new drum and slide back into printer, again the drum unit is just the casing that your toner cartridge slips in and out of
